Lucky Thompson 'Dancing Sunbeam' (Impulse, 2LP, mono). LP2 this time - great stuff.
Miles Davis 'Porgy & Bess' (UK Fontana, stereo). Very nice sounding UK first press !
He was also very active on the London scene in the 70s and 80s. Lived here for some years, I think.
No kidding. I have visions of Tricky Dicky looking out of the blinds with a major fume on
Vera Ellen
Steve Allen
Al Killian
Millikan (of the oil drop experiment)
Rutherford (of the electronic charge experiment)
Van Der Graaf (of the generator)
And you could pick that up back in the early 70s in Woolworths as it was on the budget MFP 'Music For Pleasure' label. Have only heard a bit of it - sounds very much 'of its time'.
I have the Openian 'Diversions' LP too. Quite nice. Wish I could find a copy of that Philips LP !
Louis Bellson Big Band Explosion 'Live' (Ronnie Scotts' Productions, stereo). 1980 Scotts live recording - brings back the memories !
Updated - just recalled that during that particular gig Ronnie Scott was presented by the Selmer Paris Co. with a brand new Selmer Mk VII.
Yeah, I picked up that issue too and still have the poster with it also !
A few years ago I got a Liberty original in NYC and it didn't cost very much either.
