  1. And it's another good one too. Just spinning a King vinyl of it a few days ago. A bit like 'Powerhouse' in terms of the style, not suprisingly given the date - so a mix of modal and funky material.
  2. Some very fine albums from the 1960s in particular with Harry South and Phil Seamen. 'Storm Warning' and 'It's Morrissey, Man' on UK Mercury and 'Have You Heard' on Doug Dobell's '77' label. His most prominent work was in the late 70s/early 80s with Jim Mullen in Morrisey/Mullen. This band got quite a bit of airplay with their jazz-funk, 'disco friendly' recordings (but very good quality). Also remember them touring extensively at the time. Dick, sadly, passed away some years ago. Great player.
  3. Billy Hart Dave Holland Goldmember Goldfinger Goldberg and McCann (from Harold Pinter's Birthday Party) MG Dave Goldberg Benny Golson Tom Hanks
  4. Great write-ups. Worthy of Dusty Groove in over-drive All of those sets bar the Herman Mosaic Select (which I already have) are on my long-range radar list. Certainly look forward to getting the Duke and the Hampton. The Woody Columbia is definitely well up the list too.

  6. Damn. The credit cruch and gasoline-driven inflation hits even here.. Great music, don't miss !
  7. Should be nice ! I know that there have been a lot of requests for this material to be put on Mosaic from both the old BNBB and also this site so Mr Cuscuna and Mr Wenzel must be watching and taking note.
  8. Sounds as if there were just one or two of them. Oh well...
  9. Sahib Shihab 'Companionship' (Rearward/Schema 180g 2LP reissue). Better at this price than the ridiculous £500+ for an original !
  10. John - this one is great. I think you will like it !
  11. Suprised Chuck hasn't posted on this thread yet !
  12. Gary "U.S." Bonds Gene "Daddy G" Barge Little Milton Campbell Kim Campbell Jean Cretien Brian Mulroney
  13. Clarke Boland Sextett 'Music For The Small Hours' (Rearward/Schema 180g reissue). Wow ! Great sound on this pressing, even by Rearward standards. Next up: Valdambrini/Piana Quintet 'Afrodite' (Rearward/Schema)
  14. Good reminder to dig that one out again. A gem ! Now spinning Lee Morgan/John Coltrane 'Best Of Birdland' (French Vogue). One side of 'Trane, the other of Morgan/Shorter.
  15. I notice that Trunk now have this one for sale and that it is released on a new subsidiary 'Jonny' label and not 'Trunk'. Wonder why that is?
  16. Lee Morgan/Wayne Shorter Veejay box, CDs 1 and 2.
  17. Sad news, a fine player with a good, big sound on the tenor. Heard this one the radio over the weekend, announced by Simon Spillett during his live performance on the Saturday show. I have a UK Columbia album of him of standards with strings which doesn't seem to be too well known - will dig it out by way of tribute. Those late 60s/early 70s Maynard albums on CBS recorded in the UK also have some fine solo work from him.
  18. Is that one a 10" Decca LP with a cup of coffee on the cover?
  19. Noel Redding Withnail Seb Rochford
  20. I didn't know there was an Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis box. What is it? MG Dolphy Complete Prestige Recordings box
  21. William The Bastard Willium Rufus Rufus Wainwright (and no more McGarrigles allowed in response )
  22. I think Rearward/Schema has 'first dibbs' on the CBBB material, by the look of it. Must be a deal with the Gigi Campi family. Now playing Count Basie 'Complete Roulette Studio Recordings' LPs 4 and 5. To be followed up with a bit more 'Kenton/Holman/Russo Capitol'. Good stuff.
