I didn't personally agree with some of the opinions regarding merits or otherwise of various sessions. 'Dippin' and 'A Caddy For Daddy' (especially) are better than pedestrian, IMO. Having said that, the book was an enjoyable read and did point me back in the direction of some lesser known Mobley sessions (including 'Curtain Call' and 'Poppin').
Strange that there's no mentionof some of the sideman dates, including Freddie Roach 'Good Move' and Grant's 'I Want To Hold Your Hand'.
A bit too much repetition of facts in places too - got a bit annoying after a while. Michelle Mercer's Book about Wayne Shorter fell into this trap too.
