  1. Yeah, same here. Haven’t done a careful check between the two versions yet but suspect that there’s not much in it. Alas, my deck is out of action pending some servicing so it’s CD only at the moment.
  2. Gheorge - I saw Ronnie Matthews with T.S. Monk’s group around 1995 and he was great - a very supportive pianist to the group, I thought. I need to get a copy of this Hayes/Cook CD and also the one featuring Dizzy Gillespie. It is a good series.
  3. Mastered by Gearbox and pressed by Optimal I think. They did a very good job.
  4. If I remember correctly their early period through the early to mid 70s was in the UK, where they had a few big hits around the time of glam rock and became famous. I remember seeing them on the TV show Top of the Pops during this period when they hit No. 1 in the charts and being quite amazed - absolutely nothing like it at the time. Real originals !
  5. Not being a lawyer, I would prefer to apply caution on this one.
  6. The ‘Step Lightly’ session.
  7. Reminded that condition of purchase of these is no reproduction of any kind, which we agree to when we purchase off the site so have to comply with that I’m afraid. Thanks anyway ! End of an era.
  8. Nice ! I saw the Fishwicks at Swanage some years ago. With a bit of luck they will be back, once ‘normality’ returns.
  9. Just tried but there’s a 100k limit - damn. Also just remembered Mosaic’s image reproduction statement. Too bad.
  10. Same here, mine has just shipped too. I’m fortunate that a local framer over here did up a set for me around 10 years ago of prints I bought from Mosaic at a previous sale. That batch included Freddie Hubbard, Melvin Lastie and Art Farmer and I noticed some of those on the site this time. The framer did a brilliant job with matting and framing in a Matt black frame with white border - even added the session details/date in pencil on the bottom. I’m hoping that I can pop round and just ask for ‘another one of these please’ . Good idea on the rotation - I think I’ve identified a bit of spare space that will be just the job though.
  11. Can’t recall ever paying more than $10 for any of mine, still got them. No interest whatsoever in the phishing box and happy with the version included in the Blue Mitchell Mosaic.
  12. Looks like folks have selected some really nice prints, which are going to good homes where they will be enjoyed ! It will be interesting to see how much access will be allowed to us the public when the new owner takes over.
  13. Interesting - yet the Hoffman Board is raving about it ! I’ve passed on that one as I have a Pacific Jazz original and the Conn CD, bases covered and more than happy with these. As I recall, the Conn CD sounds pretty good. Isn’t it also on the Amy Select? - need to check.
  14. I’m assuming that’s on Spotify and not the one you sold me way back when Bill
  15. Remember that one being a bit of a hit in Ontario in the early 90s.
  16. After quite a bit of procrastination I have put in an order for the Jackie Mac ‘High Frequency’ 17x22 fine print which was on ‘special’. Must have been the only one as it is now gone from the site. I have a number of these 17x22 fine prints framed up in black and they look fantastic. Have had my eye on that McLean for years and I would probably be kicking myself if I let it go. The only issue now is where to put it !
  17. Ed Bickert on CJRT-FM Toronto
  18. Actually seeing that shocks me to this day. I can only recall it happening on one of the two nights though.
  19. I picked up the 2CD version today - at around £10 it is good value (rare for HMV) and wasn’t going to fork out the £35+ for LPs with the sonics as they are. Nice booklet notes too. I welcome the release as a memento of this band and what was, by all accounts, a landmark tour by the Messengers. The music comes across to me as relaxed and indicative of a very happy tour by this band, free from the tensions of the NYC scene. Musically not the greatest by this band but welcome nevertheless. When I saw Blakey in the 80s he was still prominently featuring ‘Moanin’, ‘Blues March’ and ‘Night in Tunisia’, with infectious enthusiasm. Interesting that the audio seems to have been recorded from a Nagra then transferred to 16mm cinetape before they started the audio restoration.
  20. Given up searching on this one - the nearest I get is a Jutta Hipp t-shirt !
  21. Yes, it is the 49-53 tracks. The ‘49 tracks have nonagenarian Roy Haynes on them ! Agree that Wardell could really put solos together -hugely underrated (and I think Clark Terry commented similarly). He also extends his range into that of the baritone at times, to great effect on the Charles material.
  22. Thought I’d aged overnight by 10 years for a minute.
  23. CD9 - Kristianstad concert Every hour should be Gerald Wilson hour !
