  1. Sad news, RIP.
  2. Those digipacks always had the feel of East German fabrication circa 1980 to me !
  3. ‘Martin is our Maitre d’ - that’s French for “moron” ‘. ’Joe Henderson is in the Club next week (collective gasp round the room)...... Joe ‘piano’ Henderson’
  4. Stan Getz has just appeared on TV on an old BBC Shirley Bassey Show. With Joanne Brackeen, Clint Houston and Billy Hart, 1976. Looking at the backing Orchestra for Shirley, Bob Efford on saxes in the lineup. Must have been just before he emigrated to the States. Time capsule !
  5. Pye 2LP - very good selection. Rich to Hayes.
  6. Expubident, stereo
  7. My Muse vinyl cost £5 I think. JazzMessengers are very good to deal with - friendly and with good shipping arrangements.
  8. Includes Parker, Gillespie and Roach with a Tristano combo. Good work by Tony Williams, RIP.
  9. Ronnie Scott from stage of the club - ‘It’s the first time I’ve seen dead people smoke’. Very true !
  10. Just noticed that on their Friday flyer. That Muse LP seems to be getting ridiculous prices these days.
  11. Had bad experiences with that ‘Disco Anti-Stat’. Left gooey residue that required constant stylus cleaning and caused outer perimeter damage to record labels. RCMs are my preference - much better but at cost.
  12. He always seemed to do a lot of performances for the British Royal Family. Prince Chazz must have been a fan. I remember him being in that insane ‘It’s a Royal Knockout’ event back in the 1980s. Didn’t see that one but I certainly remember that male/female vocal extravaganza which seemed even longer than ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ running for quite a few weeks on TOTP.
  13. Can’t go wrong with that set. Time to dig out - a good Friday spin.
  14. CD9 seems to be present and correct.
  15. Sad news to start the day. Not a particular fan - but his music was omnipresent and influential. Real trooper as a touring artist too. RIP.
  16. Yep, custard yellow.
  17. That JJ album is a good one (as are all of his Columbias).
  18. I’ve got the doubletime CD and I think I’ve got them both on LP - prompt for this weekend to dig them out. Recall ‘The Eternal Triangle’ being particularly good.
  19. Yes, the Shaw/Hubbard was reissued on one of those ‘doubletime’ 2CD sets.
  20. Deck back in action after system upgrade and kicking off with: 180g version NY DG mono version
  21. The trouble with all that brightness is that it is very much ‘in your face’. I prefer a softer light, especially for outside lighting. But - so be it.
  22. Rumour in Hoffman-Land has it that Tony Higgins has confirmed that another batch is forthcoming in 2022.
  23. Now where have I seen that pic.....?
