  1. 80, not 90.
  2. I still use the PVC covers - both soft and hard types. So far no issues, touch wood - although I avoid any exposure to higher temperatures and direct sunlight.
  3. OBI strip is in the left with the whole thing in a PVC sleeve, so the photo looks pretty well like my copy. Nice LP ! I need to get that ‘Extension’ CD. East Wind
  4. French RCA UK Atlantic HMV Mono - with ‘Jingle Bells’
  5. Yes, those albums had a bit of an FM-play feel to them - plus something of the sterility (to my ears) of Windham Hill, also the rage circa 1984-85.
  6. Blake was in the touring lineup circa 1980-83, so later than the mid 70s. I thought he was really excellent live with McCoy. His solo albums of that era (Grammavision?) I found disappointing and don’t do him justice.
  7. That’s good to hear - hope you are right. The previous ‘Impressed Repressed’ didn’t last long with the suits at Universal, hopefully there won’t be a repeat.
  8. There’s a rumour on the Hoff Board that the series has already been cancelled after just the first tranche. Can’t validate either way.
  9. Reissue of both volumes of the ‘Memorial Album’. Great stuff.
  10. Before 1 Jan 2022 US time I think. Duration about 90 minutes. Nice that they included interviews with Trudy Pitts, Jimmy McGriff and Dr Lonnie Smith. The first two of these three musicians passed away during the making of the film, along with Jimmy Smith.
  11. Essential viewing. Unbelievable that Jimmy Smith’s home B-3 nearly ended up in a skip !
  12. I would have put the one on the right as the crazy one and the middle one as a saint but what do I know ! Nice pic.
  13. Yeah, it’s an interesting read and all 3 authors are excellent. Very broad coverage of ‘names’ and particularly useful for the generous coverage of UK and European artists circa 1985. I detect the influence of Mr Carr there !
  14. Obviously same tour I saw them on. Yes, trio version of ‘Moment’s Notice’ rings a bell. They also did stuff from ‘Horizon’ I think.
  15. The ‘inexpensive’ version.
  16. Never saw Palin - but he does feature nicely on that Spotlite LP with Don Rendell and Barbara Thompson. Recent charity shop find.
  17. Many would disagree with that statement ! Tracey’s stamina and flexibility not to be underestimated with respect to this gig. Admittedly, he did pay a heavy price after 5 years or so - one that could have killed him.
  18. Nucleus ‘Live at the BBC’ from Repertoire would be a late in year addition from me.
  19. That would be John Blake and not Ran Blake on violin and my guess is perhaps Joe Ford on alto in the front line. The group I saw also had John Lee on bass and Wilby Fletcher on drums. John Blake wearing, as I recall it, exotic all-white 3 piece suit a la Saturday Night Fever !
  20. CD6 of this enjoyable set. Followed by CD7 - ‘The Pretty Redhead’, also including the session with guest Charlie Mariano. Ace. Pondering when I actually saw Carr play live - the only time I can recall was with Gil Evans Orchestra ! ‘Pause, and Think Again’
  21. New Departures Septet, Gearbox Records (2LP)
  22. Sam Noto - 91
  23. Bill Holman - 94 Vi Redd - 93
