  1. Wayne Shorter 'Speak No Evil' (BN NY USA mono)
  2. Didn't NASA also destroy the original blueprints for the Saturn 5 launch vehicle?
  3. If you wanted to check out a particularly wild and beautiful part of Scotland, head up to the Isle of Skye, accesible via the toll bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh. I did a diving trip up there some years ago and the scenery (above and below water) was spectacular. Difficult to get to and it rains quite a lot - but it's worth the effort. The pubs there are good too !
  4. Can't beat the NYC or Bergenfield vinyl for this one.
  5. It's many, many years since I was last in Montreal but for Cds it might be worth checking out the shopping area in and around St Catherine's St. Not sure if the 'Sam The Record Man' is still there but it's worth checking out that whole area anyway. The 'old' part of town is probably the best bet for jazz clubs - and is well worth checking out for its galleries and restaurants in any event. Make sure you sample the 'local' lobster/seafood ! :rsmile: Sorry I can't help with specifics - last time I was there though was about 1990 (thoroughly enjoyed it !)
  6. Ian Carr 'Belladonna' (Vertigo swirl)
  7. I didn't realize there was already a thread going on... I played at the Idlewild Jazz Festival in 2004 and had come offstage after playing a set with organist Lyman Woodard.. I had a message from the promoter announcing that Rufus needed a drummer for his set later that afternoon.. I get onstage and there's Rufus with his bagpipes, wearing a red, white, & blue kilt, and sporting a big red head bonnet with dredlocks. He came over to me, shook my hand and says, "Thanks for playing with me, start a vamp for "My Favorite Things" and kicked off a bright tempo in a 9/8 afro-latin feel and I heard this bizarre sound in my monitor. It was a weird whining sound that was building in intensity and was Rufus filling the air chamber of his bagpipes before starting the head of the tune.. He played great that day and was a delight on the mic between tunes. He had lots of stories and anecdotes he shared with the audience. I'm glad I had a chance to play with him. I heard him once on a tv talk show in the 60's and never forgot him.. Very cool. Thanks for sharing !
  8. Hope you have a very Happy Birthday ! And get to spin some BJP !
  9. Wow - great bargain !
  10. I'd put on the 'Mosaic Complete Jazz Crusaders Pacific Jazz' set. If she can't groove to that one then there's no chance..
  11. Nucleus material on its way, Roger.
  12. Damn! That's at least a month's listening. Welcome. No Mosaic selects to fill up the package?
  13. Thanks for the advisory. That'll make it easier for us limeys when Mosaics batch 2 eventually appear (he says hopefully ).
  14. I guess Al Shorter's 'Tes Etat' would be off the playlist as welll then?
  15. Great to see mention of that one again, sure brings back memories. I was at the club that week for this particular George Coleman gig. Absolutely first rate - can't recall if they were recording the night I was there.
  16. CDs 1 to 6 of the Morgan/Shorter Vee Jay set are now in the MP3 player. I'll add the Roy Eldridge in there next and maybe a 'Complete Coltrane on Prestige'.
  17. Which 'NM' is that?
  18. Just trying out Lee Morgan/Wayne Shorter Complete VeeJay CD1 on a 4Gbyte mp3 player. It's 24/7 Mosaics in the office for me next week (in between damned annoying interuptions from pesky 'customers', 'bosses' etc ) Shame I can't set up a turntable there too..
  19. I quite like the yellow..
  20. Lonnie Smith 'Move Your Hand' (BN Liberty stereo). Fantastic ! Tommy Flanagan 'The Cats' (New Jazz DG mono) 'Red Garland's Piano' (Prestige Bergenfield DG mono)
  21. Hey, I just got my Organissimo PhD. !
  22. Good reminder. I'll dig that vinyl set out later on (it's gathering dust ).
  23. Just got hold of this new biography of Ian Carr by Alan Shipton. Looks good ! Chapters on Emcee 5, Rendell/Carr, Nucleus, United Jazz & Rock Ensemble etc. Anyone else read this one yet?
  24. Check out the new cover for Another Workout: I like it better than the original (which I sold a few months ago in preperation for the RVG). That is a WONDERFUL sleeve! Oh definitely YES! A great new photo and the lettering emulating the original "Workout". Someone put thought into what people would like. MG My thoughts exactly, re: the classy emulation of the original 'Workout' sleeve art. And not a single booby or cock in sight.
