  1. Well, I've just got back from North Sea having seen this band live and can confirm it has to be one of the greatest gigs I've ever seen. These guys kicked ass - and the interplay between DeJohnette and Scofield was a joy to behold. Surpassed all expectations (which were already high).
  2. This is sad news - my condolences.
  3. This one obviously aimed at the 'ladettes' in our society.
  4. Who needs the David Stone Martin covers when you can get a hairshirt binding !
  5. His music certainly lives on and goes from strength to strength. Mosaic Select going on right now..
  6. 'Ted Curson Plays Fire Down Below' (Prestige Bergenfield DG mono)
  7. Probably not far from the truth ! It would be handy for them to get to Glastonbury (I've got a small plot next to the composter that would do).
  8. Yep, fraid so - been there, done it... I guess we have zweitausendeins.. I can't believe it!! I missed the Evans and Coltrane sets on 2001! It's time for me to buy a place in the US just to buy jazz..... How can they justify this??!! This is incredible! I'll go halves with you. (very small plot in North Dakota with P.O. box number perhaps?)
  9. Sounds like they need to bring this guy out of mothballs to direct festivities..
  10. Yep, fraid so - been there, done it... I guess we have zweitausendeins..
  11. "Stop! Stop, will you?! Stop that! Stop it! Now, look! No one is to stone anyone until I blow this whistle! Do you understand?! Even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say 'Jehovah'."
  12. I think I lost 2 or 3 thou...
  13. Johnny Hawksworth 'I've Grown accostomed To My Bass' (UK Columbia mono test pressing). With Stan Tracey.
  14. Didn't the early Floyd use to do their London light-show concerts at a basement club on Tottenham Court Road? (apparently on LHS going North from the tube). Not sure what the club was called. Must have passed the site hundreds of times - has been built over with shops I believe.
  15. The old Ronnie Scotts in London was my ideal. £1 admission mid-week for students/Musicians Union members, top-flight US and UK bands selected by Ronnie, seating for the youngsters up-front, no hard drinks pressure, nice ambience, terrible jokes by Ronnie. The only problem is we are talking about 25 years ago here.
  16. What - you didn't go for the Honi Gordon?
  17. Does that include my bundle?
  18. Damnation - I get a nice little pile selected in my basket and notice under FAQs that there's 'No International shipping' !
  19. wow - the 30+ bundle deal compares with zweitausendeins.de at Euro 2.99 each and an even better title list
  20. Sorry for the delay - the 1974 Jazz Journals have a few interesting publicity pages and adverts. Example below for a Roundhouse concert (a bit small I'm afraid). Will work through '75 and '76 over the next week or so. Please PM mail address Roger and I'll post some photocopies !
  21. Ian Carr 'Belladonna' (Vertigo 'swirl' label). Watching the label go round is better than watching the TV ( ) and any album with a track titled 'Hector's House' automatically gets a from me. Jimmy Smith 'Crazy Baby' (BN 47W63rd mono DG side 1)
  22. Nope - NY USA/43W61st !
  23. 'The Amazing Bud Powell Vol 1' (BN DG NY USA side 1/Lexington side 2)
  24. Frank Foster Orchestra 'Giant Steps' (Nipon Columbia). Thad & Mel Big Band album in disguise !
