Below is the information on the Louis Armstrong foundation website https://louisarmstrongfoundation.org/

  3. This is a nightmare. Too many are being stolen from the world in too short of a period. RIP Mr. Grimes. Hopefully your not charged extra for taking your bass on the flight to the next gig.

Thank you for the great music and your sense of humor. Thoughts with you and your family. I remember one time seeing him live at the village vanguard. He finished his set and announce to the audience he was going to go outside and smoke a joint. If anybody wanted to come outside and join him. “I’ll be by the back door.” Another time at the Vanguard, he played about a 55 minute set and started to walk off the stage. Lorraine Gordon yelled get back up there you owe me 10 more minutes. Lee did, and he played a solo Sweet Lorraine for about 10 minutes. Lorraine then shouted “ OK, I’ll can pay you now.“
  8. R.I.P, Andy.
  9. RIP Mr. Merritt. Thanks for carrying the music.
  10. This was shared on someone's face book page from another Facebook page, which was shared from someone else's page, so forth, so I don't know who originated it. "I just did the math for all the gigs I lost with the from the lock down, and it looks like I actually saved $214."
  11. It was reported on several Facebook pages. I enjoyed the sessions he played on with Woody Shaw.
  12. What a great ball player. RIP Al.
  13. Last summer I bought 4 CD's used at a yard sale by Arthur Prysock. All four are on Verve. Why wouldn't a label such as Verve know who played on the session? You would believe this would be tracked.
  14. Yeah. Also both did recordings in the 70’s and 80’s on Pablo records and jazz festivals at Montreux where they both appeared. .
  15. I don't believe so. I've collected everything recording by Joe Pass, as least I think I have, and I don't have anything with Sonny Stitt.
  16. Oh no. The virus jumped species again. https://www.thedailybeast.com/tiger-in-bronx-zoo-tests-positive-for-covid-19?source=facebook&via=mobile&fbclid=IwAR3AsiEJLtyljv5AQOKr4ePN7Ws9WHfLFJFN-ObIetOaPseGkk2_z4loxbo

  19. I was just listening to one of Dizzy's last sessions, "To Bird With Love." He had a number top musicians on this record. I really enjoy it. It is a live concert recording of high quality. Telarc puts out a lot of classical recordings, but their jazz releases are just as good. What are some others like?
  20. It's been a busy week with the deaths of musicians. RIP, Bucky. Thanks for all the music and your military service in WWII. Thoughts with your family.
  21. This is getting to be too surreal. R.I.P., Ellis. Thoughts with the Marsalis family.
