  1. Everyday there are new members. Welcome to you all. Doesn't it seem that we are going faster then every before?
  2. Charles can swing. Over the past summer I went to see Clark Terry. Charles was in the audience wathcing the show. Clark Terry saw him and asked him to come on to the stage. He did, and smoked. I am thinking of seeing his big band this weekend or the Heath Brothers.
  3. Didn't know of him, but sad to hear he's died.
  4. I've noticed that the Verve LP Reproduction series all contain the date the CD will go out of print. I wonder if this helps with sales? Its not going to make me buy a CD knowning it's going out of print, unless it's a Mosaic.
  5. How about "Swingin' till the Girls come home" by Oscar Pettiford. This is a great swinging blues number.
  6. Glad you liked NYC.
  7. Should I gosee Jim Hall or the Heath Brothers? I donw for one of these two shows. Can't make up my mind.
  8. Try this file. The talking starts as Joe Henderson starts to play "RELAXIN' AT CAMERALLIO". Woman- Is he big? Man- Big. Woman- Big?... Like how big? Man- Well, he's a , he's a living legend. Woman- Really?........ What did you say his name was? Man- Joe Henderson.
  9. Great to have you here.
  10. I can take it if no one want s to do it.
  11. Here is a small audio clip of a girl asking her guy who this is. Mind you, this is the end of the show, and she had no idea whom she just saw live for the past hour. I had to compress it all the way to 8kb to fit it here, so the sound if quite muffled. It is also zipped.
  12. So you bought a new wall paper. No, one that holds a TV and all my stereo pieces.
  13. Beatles hand down. They made the 60's, music, clothing, politics, everything.
  14. I have never heard anything by them. I know of them, but I find myself very bias with music. I guess they have a purpose.
  15. We can do one on alternative lifestyles musicians.
  16. Thanks.
  17. I just bought a new entertainment wall unit. I decided to get new speakers to match. I went to Best Buy, but all the speakers are small. Some a little larger then P external speakers. I’m so use to the massive size speakers. The sales person said speakers have gotten smaller, and the old large speakers are a thing of the past. My wife liked the idea that they were small. I have two questions. Do they produce the same sound quality as the bigger units. Is it true they don't make the larger speakers anymore?
  18. Can you name some? Art Tatum Lennie Tristano Ray Charles. George Shearing
  19. If the money came from a home equity line of credit it deductable. Not sure if it is if you use your on money. I put a bathroom in and if I paid cash or got a home equity loan it wasn't deductable, bit if you get a home equity line of credit the intrest is deductable.
  20. If you go to www.irs.gov you can do it on line. The IRS has links to all the different software products such as Turbo tax. I did mine in Turbo Tax. If you are expecting a refund, it will e-file and deposit the money right into your account. The charge to e-file when you are getting a refund is 19.95 otherwise it was free. I did mind 2 weeks ago and got my return already. If this is the first time e-filing, it will take a little longer to get your return. The Federal government will want you to sign a form so they can have your signature on file so they know it's you. But then next year when you file, all you need is to answer a simple question, such as what is the figure on line 33 of lasts years return. My return to a total of 9 business days to get deposited in my checking account. For you, since you bought a home in 2004, you can claim the closing costs and interest and property taxes. You should get a nice hunk of change back. Enough to get a number of Mosaic sets.
  21. Same to all.
  22. Same here. I had no idea this was what's happening.
  23. This is harder then I thought it would be. I'm on my thrid time through disc 1, and not too sure about any of them yet.
  24. I was searching the net and came across a post from a jazz fan from Germany. He wrote that this year, 2005, the Jazzhouse in Hamberg will be knocked down. What other jazz clubs remain in Europe? Are they on the way out too, or are they safe?
  25. ...don't remind me I'm not in NYC. I'd kill to see Lou and the great Dr. right about now. Especially in light of JOS' mortality. Don't know how long we can count on seeing all these guys at our leisure. Will you be in NY the following week? They will be at the Vanguard.
