  1. This second photo is Cicel Payne. The others names are never mentioned in the film. I thought Woody Shaw too, but he walked into the room with a Tenor. Plus the year is 1990, and Shaw was dead by then.
  2. These 2 guys, I have no idea. Any guesses?
  3. This one I know. Do you know who this is?
  4. I have to admit, I have no idea who this bass player is. Does anyone have a guess as to who it might be.
  5. This is great to read.
  6. Doesn't work just suck? Espically when you get stuck putting in all those extra hours with nothing inreturn, not even a thanks from the powers to be.
  7. This made me sick. If if bothers too many, I will delete the thread. It id very graphic. It still amazes me that this gies on in the 21st century. http://www.hsus2.org/slideshow-seal-hunt/sealhunt.html
  8. Having not read anyones posts yet, I have only figured out one track so far on disc 1. Track three is Fletcher Henderson, if I can trust my ears.
  9. Welcome. Rob, I was listening today to Night at the Black hawk. What a great album. I'll be sure to play his music on the 5th of May.
  10. Can you figure out who these 2 artists are?
  11. Can you name some musicians that have remained as side players for the front men? I can think of Bob Cranshaw for Sonny rollins. Al Foster for Joe Henderson. I guess you can say Nat Adderley for Cannonball would be another.
  12. Was shink wrapping of LP albums there from the very beginning? How were the early 33 1/3 records packaged or sealed?
  13. So what happened in the staff meeting when you answered 'neither'? Get demoted? There's this woman who swares she's street smart, but she would get mugged in a nursery school. It made me wonder what other people think of them selves.
  14. Coming out 3/22/05 on DVD. I just pre-ordered this. Synopsis: A concert recording from 1976, this performance from Harold Silver and his quintet is taken from the Umbria Jazz Festival. A composer and pianist of some repute, Silver has garnered an impressive reputation for himself over his lengthy tenure in the music industry. Confessing that he prefers to work with a small group in order to allow for more improvisation, Silver allows himself--and the musicians that surround him--to stretch out and express themselves at every opportunity. Silver never ventured into the studio to record the songs presented here, making this an extra special artefact from the great jazz man
  15. It was a discussion today at work.
  16. Which do you fit into?

  18. I stopped playing and seeing them sitting there got me depressed. So on ebay they went. Lefty models too. The X-500 blond one I sold to someone that is playing it backwards. Restringed the guitar for a righty. Go figure. The Aartist Award model was the best sounding guitar I ever heard. It sang when you played it. The tone was so wonderful. That's really weird, a righty playing a left-handed guitar upside now. Now I've seen it all. Do you plan on getting back into guitar, Tom? I still have a Fender Tele. I kept saying I am going to play it. But if I get back into it, I would buy a Heritage. They sound real nice, and the price is good. I also had a Gibson Charlie Christian model, the one with the 3 screws on the body. It was a good 52 years old when I sold it. It was so beat up from me playing it, as well as the prior owner and the owner before the prior owner and the owner before that. I really believe the sound gets better from years of constant playing. I don't know if there is any truth to that with guitars, but I once spoke to a violinist that said this about volins. I found an image of one, except for the pickup and this one having a pick guard it looks exactly the same.

  22. And this one. I had both, but sold them.
  23. This was my favorite guitar.
