  1. Great idea. You get my vote.
  2. On the way to work this morning, I had on a oldies station. The tune playing was “Stormy” by the Classic Four. Right away I thought of Reuben Wilson and Duke Pearson's versions of this tune. Then I thought of "Spooky" their other big hit, and I always hear Stanley Turrentine version of it in my head. Any other pop tunes that go well in the jazz arena? Burt Bacharach's tunes seem like perfect fit for this.
  3. Funny how this makes it seem complete see your music on iTunes.
  4. Can't be as high as it is here in NYC.
  5. If you want good gas milage, don't buy this car. 8 miles to the gallon.
  6. True, but look at it from this way. Last summer I was in Europe. I rented a car, a VW Jetta. I believe it’s engine was a .9 litter. That same can in America has a 2.0 or a 2.2 litter engine. You guys can go a lot furture on a tank of gas us here. If we adopt the same principle as Europeans and make smaller car, it wouldn’t hurt so much. SUV's are so hugh both in size and popularity. They all suck when it comes to milage.
  7. The Lounge Lizards. Some Newer George Benson Groover Washington JR.
  8. Man the price of gas has gone through the roof. I just bought a tank of gas for my car and cost me $28. Why the F&$@ is it costing this much? I decided to walk and ride my bike to near places. Is the price of gas gone to the moon where you live?
  9. Neither have I. I have to locate it here in the states.
  10. Great. I hope the sound is just as good as the other 2 you mentioned.
  11. Would anyone know if Pearson's the Phantom is a domestic or import re-issue? The Phantom
  12. I worked with a guy that would collect the dead cicadas. He would spray them with something to make them harder and then make tie pins out of them. He would glue the clip on the cicada's underneath. Everyday he would have one perched on his tie at work.
  13. Yeah, wicked we are.
  14. convert dollars into eruos. I will be spending 3 weeks this summer in Europe. I just want to understand how dollars convert to the Euro. Last time I was in Europe I did know and I was swindled out of some money. Now I've learned. I will due some research first on the dollar compared to other country's currencies.
  15. So far I've been on Cannonball Adderley in my collection. This a great test to see if you really like an artist. Nothing but the same artists can start to bother you. I am finding it hard to really listen liek I normally would.
  16. YES, I MEANT IT WAS WITH STRINGS.
  17. Yes, it was with strings.
  18. I found myself digging the muzak playing at work just now. I was playing some Cannonball Adderley. When the CD finished I heard this tune over the speakers in the ceiling tiles. I started listening for some reason I then realized it was a cover of Lee Morgan's "The Sidewinder". It was like Velveeta cheese, not really jazz but still Lee Morgan. Anyone else ever heard some hardbop melted down like this?
  19. There could be worse addictions then buying CD's and rare LP's. I could collect vintage cars or stamps. CD's are more fun. Good for the soul.
  20. Smoke has Steve Davis Quintet with · Eric Alexander and Harold Mabern. Pat Martino is at Birdland. Ron Carter at the Blue Note. I would see Ron Carter.
  21. I remember a year or so ago reading that the widow of Blue Mitchell received 2 checks each for 50 thousand. Intel had used Mitchell's Fungii Mama in a TV ad. Then I recall reading on the Blue Note site, asking for help to locate the estates of some artists. Some of these artists have children that are in the music industry. I recall Don Cherry being one of the names. Isn't Eagle Eye Cherry his son. Maybe Eagle Eye isn't the aire his dad's estate.
  22. Thundering. No rain yet. But the sky is black as can be.
  23. How royalties don’t get to the artist. This is Jutta Hipp as written on Allmusic. I pretty sure there are others. Do you know of any others? ...She lost contact with the music world to the extent that Blue Note didn't know where her royalties should be sent until 2000. Three years later, at the age of 78, Jutta Hipp passed away in the Queens apartment where she lived alone.
  24. I've started this today. I am also going to give each record a rating of 1 to 100, 100 bing the highest of course. Music Collector has a field for this.
