  1. Me, I LISTEN to the Complete 1950s Lou and Hank. That's the point, I think.
  2. BMG has the box for $87.99 pre-shipping, and at yourmusic it's $111.84 shipped.
  3. As soon as my next paycheck comes in I'll be adding to my meager donation, and nobody's gonna stop me. Glad the board's not going away!
  4. I'm way in for $12 annually. I lurk more than post, but I'm gonna miss this place. sandy@whamcomics.com
  5. "Dear Customer, We wanted to give you an update on the status of your order [203-9615844-4688366]. We are sorry to inform you that we have been unable to obtain the following item: Thelonious Monk (Artist) "Complete Riverside Record [box set] [Live] [import]" [Audio CD] This item has now been cancelled from your order and we can confirm that you have not been charged for it. Please accept our apologies for any disappointment or inconvenience caused." Alas.
  6. Did you get a notice that your order was going to be delayed until January of 2008? They're still predicting early November. I figure that can't last, though. I'll keep you posted!
  7. Strangely enough, Amazon hasn't canceled my order yet.
  8. I'm pretty sure there's third party software that automatically lowers the price of items when any other seller undercuts you. I'm tempted to order one of the marketplace ones, but the sellers' 84 & 88% feedback is holding me back...
  9. My two cents: Passing Ships, Black Fire (Henderson!), Grass Roots (Mogie and Booker Ervin!), Dance w/ Death.
  10. I'm kinda thrilled about the Brownie master takes box, myself... I have the Complete box, but all of the master takes remastered (some for the first time since the 80s!) sounds like a swell idea.
  11. PM sent for J.J! Byas' Laura and the Giuffre/Hall one.
  12. I'm guessing that the discography is no longer there for out-of-print sets. Correct. A quick Google search turned up this page that seems to have the discography info from the original Mosaic site. http://audiophileaudition.com/audaud/JAN02.../jazzJAN02.html Thanks!
  13. I can't seem to work the magic trick of finding the discography on Mosaic's site. Does anyone have access to it? I know I have most of the recordings on separate cds, but I'm missing a couple. One that I'm missing is the Rich/Roach one, which I just figure is goofy. Am I wrong?
  14. You're making my back spasms hurt more.
  15. Harold Vick's Steppin' Out needs a US RVG. The JRVG sounds fantastic.
  16. That's half of the Clifford Brown Memorial album, right?
  17. The ugly cover on my Tippin' CD is reason enough to want a new one. And though it's an oddly straight-ahead session, following "Let Freedom Ring" as it did, it's still got Jackie and Sonny Clark on it, you know? I excluded the J Mac titles that are on the Moncur Select just b/c they're available now. Not because they're not, like, totally awesome. The Blakey/Moody disc just seems like something RVG could work wonders on. He's great with sessions of that vintage! The Jody Grind would be nice to have "Honey Bee"-ed. Woody Shaw and Tyrone Washington, right? Hell yes. I'm pretty sure the list could be twice as long, and it's pretty unwieldy as is. Edit and add, everyone!
  18. RVG's I'd like to see, in no particular order, artists largely omitted out of laziness. Ya'll know who did 'em: Leapin' and Lopin' Happy Frame of Mind Rollin' with Leo ZT's Blues Far Away Lands The Rajah Cornbread Up at Minton's Look Out! Blues Walk Quartet/Quintet/Sextet Tippin' the Scales Bluesnik New Soil Blue and Sentimental Easy Living Open House/Plain Talk Stop and Listen Matador Born to Be Blue KB at the Five Spot Out of the Blue Blakey/Moody: New Sounds Piano Interperetations A Portrait of Sheila The Jody Grind Good Gracious! Sunny Side Up Swing, Swang, Swingin' The In Between Cliff Craft Further Explorations Conns: High Frequency A Date with Jimmy Smith vols 1 & 2 Jimmy Smith at the Organ 1 & 2 Up and Down Natural Essence Live at the Hickory House v 1 & 2 Thad Jones v3 The Opener Two Bones Bone & Bari CF vol 3 Here 'tis Chant The Creeper Contrasts Heaven on Earth Jimmy Smith & LD LD + 3 Lou Takes Off Smithville And the first session in the Blue Mitchell box, the one with Joe Henderson on. What's it called? What'd I miss? I omitted things available on Selects and in-print Mosaic boxes, except for a few LD titles, a couple Parlans (it'll be gone soon enough, right?). Some individual Stanley Turrentines (Comin' Your Way, Jubilee Shout) from the box would be nice to have out too.
  19. I hope I can upgrade Leapin' and Lopin', Blue and Sentimental, Bluesnik, New Soil, Born to Be Blue and Cornbread (and a few more I can't think of right now) before the RVG program ends, if it's gonna. Edit: We should put together a just-incase-it-all-ends list for Cuscuna.
  20. There's a few ancient McMasters I'll be upgrading- Delightfulee, Flight to Jordan, Afro-Cuban, the JOS ones. And it's Nice to see Willette get his first US RVG treatment! I have all the Mogies form the 1500 yen TOCJ series. Did anyone A/B The Cooker or City Lights RVGs with those?
  21. Hell, I don't need it and I'm tempted. Somebody buy it and end the temptation!
  22. Refreshed sale brought to my attention by its mention in a new e-newsletter. I obviously need people to call such things to my attention...
  23. There's even a $20 BN Works "Rajah". Not a bad selection, though the prices aren't crazy low. Except for the $10 "Bout Soul"... link
  24. Just got an email that LD's Lush Life is no longer available and has been removed from my queue. WTF? That lasted less than a week, right?
  25. "Do ya'll buy CDs?" "Yes". "How about compact discs?" -------------- "Did you know that Kip Winger was in Alice Cooper's band on this record?"
