  1. It is a fine disc, very much worth getting. The "tenorman" in question is James Clay. It is James Clay's first recording. He plays his ass off on it too. Sonny Clark's the pianist...
  2. I think you meant to say Bo Tie Sans Chu. Right?
  3. Your knowledge is obviously supreme. Thanks!
  4. Glossed right over this thread last year! Thanks, guys, for the kind words. And I'm at the Raleigh store. Most of the jazz in my life is on CD, as I'm at home with the wife and kid nearly every night. So I'm not gonna be much help. But stop by and chat if you're in town! I'm not as antisocial as you must have figured. Just oblivious. Have you found anything interesting to do in RDU?
  5. It's from a record jacket, all info in Japanese. Can't read. Help.
  6. VSOP at emusic Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but emusic has a fine VSOP selection...
  7. I think the Tenorman that was offered for $10 was from last year's batch of west coast 1500 yen CDs. Am I right?
  8. I just phoned ejazzlines to see if my 3 orders from the last 24 hours (I just can't stop) could be consolidated- they said that ordinarily they'd be glad to, but the ones from last night were already packed!
  9. The Amazon Marketplace prices are generally only out of hand on items with no competition OR actual rare items. Aside from that, it's more or less a place for sellers to race to see who can sell their item for less. Capitalism in action.
  10. Though Amazon takes a whopping portion of your selling price, it's way lower maintenance than eBay. It's sort of like harvesting. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't sell 'em here, which is also like harvesting. But with a friendlier atmosphere. Amazon and eBay, when used together, are great tools for figuring market value. Check there before you do sell here, if that's the route you're taking. If the lowest Amazon price seems stupidly high, it probably is- I've seen things have a low price of $80 fall to $2 over the course of a few months. Just depends on how many folks are selling. Good luck!
  11. A Donaldson Cadet set would be welcome...
  12. Does everybody on the board already have this? Really? Conn, this is the conn w/ George Wallington's "Showcase" on it too, right?
  13. You bet! I bought the Oh Baby! from you, Paul! You've apparently added a few scuffs! Played it too much too many places!
  14. You bet! I bought the Oh Baby! from you, Paul!
  15. SOLD The Way I Feel has some light wear to laminate on sleeve and a couple of faint marks to disc, plays perfectly. With obi & insert. $15 shipped. Oh Baby! has some light wear to laminate on sleeve, some wear to open edge and a more than a couple of light marks to disc, but still plays perfectly. With obi & insert. $12 shipped. PayPal to krsjarrell@nc.rr.com Edit: $25 for the pair.
  16. I've never met a North Coast beer I really liked, and this is no exception. But $2 per case goes to the Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute, the label's awesome and the beer's sort of okay. Big bottle, $6.99 at my local Whole Foods.
  17. I had both for a while and solid the "Complete" set - the Birdland RVG discs sound MUCH better. That's what I did too, for what it's worth.
  18. Scanning the thread, I don't think anyone answered: Yes, Basin Street has been remastered, and then Verve stopped with the Master Editions of Brown & Roach, sadly. Don't forget to buy the Blakey at Birdland Vol 1 & 2 discs. Essential brownie. It's all on the BN/PJ set, it's just a matter of whether or not you want the RVGs. And the BN/PJ set is at Yourmusic.com for $23.96 postpaid, which should be a bit less than the BMG final price.
  19. I was born in NC, still live here, and have never once said "dang". Never typed it either, until now.
  20. Auto insurance is really cheap in NC. Might offset the taxes.
  21. Edit: I once spent a summer in Houston. I have felt your pain.
