  1. In no particular order: 1. Music (I mean, I love jazz, but I LOVE music!) 2. Vodka (stolimartiniupwitholives is one of my favorite words) 3. Women (now, my wife) 4. Fast cars (that Volvo 240 of mine has some MAD speed) 5. Crate-diggin' (vinyl never died) 6. Cigarettes (although I quit, I still gots the jones) 7. Chocolate (one thing on my list has to be legal!) Oh wait...we were only supposed to choose three?
  2. Sounds good, Randy--I'll check my schedule. Sometime in May should work--are the trails drying out by then?
  3. Oh YEAH! I'm old school--1993 Bridgestone MB5 (top-mounted shifters) and a 1995 Barracuda A2M. I LOVE my bikes. Haven't had much of a chance to do a lot of offroad since moving to Philly, but would love to take a long weekend for some tasty Mich singletrack. Could we possibly organize an org bike trip? Hmmm....I'll check mileage from Philly!
  4. I killed a man. Actually, I'm 2nd chair defense counsel.
  5. Tonight: dinner with my wife at a new Mediterranean BYOB in South Philly (that's right folks, some of our restaurants allow you to bring your own...it's cut my restaurant budget in half, but increased my consumption tenfold! ) if (big IF!!!) she doesn't get called in to the hospital. Tomorrow night: Repeat, if she gets called in tonight. Otherwise BBQ with friends. In between, and all day Sunday: prepare for trial on Monday. The first real spring weekend all year!
  6. Someday I hope to have all of the BN 1500 and 4000 series on wax, regardless of the pressing. About 2/3 of the way so far. As far as artists, not so much...
  7. Oh MAN, impossible...GD is almost all I've been listening to this long, tough winter (Philly); this morning (spring's here, right?) it was SIX DEGREES (with the windchill). Nothing left to do but smile smile smile. I'd love to hear this. Anyone heard it?
  8. Tom-- Good luck meeting up with HH. I "stalked" him after a show here in Philly last year because I just wanted to thank him for providing years of musical enjoyment. After talking to a few security guards, I finally got someone "in the know," who told me when and where to wait. I was the only one, and had a two minute (max!) chat with HH. He was freezing his ass off (he lives in LA now) and clearly wanted to get going. But I shook his hand and he seemed to appreciate me taking the time...a VERY cool moment. PJ
  9. One thing New Jersey is good for... *ducks for cover*
  10. I now have them in alpha order by artist, then by label, and within the label, by catalog number (anal!). But I've often thought about segregating the BN's, and arranging them in order by catalog number. It might change my listening habits too. Anyone else do it the way I'm thinking about doing it?
  11. Alright... First the CDs (sharp-eyed viewers will spot a lot of GD in there, but all the jazz is on top): Records (yes, they're nine feet up and I need a ladder to reach them, but they're part of the decor that way): And, of course, the overflow:
  12. Aw man, I'm flying UNTIED tomorrow afternoon and I thought y'all would have this all straightened out by now! AND I'm on a 737! I guess it'll be the Bose noise reduction 'phones and some rare groove for me!
  13. Mel Brown...that's who I meant, not Ray Brown! (duh). What a SHAME about jazz de opus. Man, I saw some great gigs there, and they had good food too! But I can pacify my sadness @ Jimmy Maks: THURSDAY: Mar.18, 2004, Mel Brown B3 Organ Quartet. Starts: 9:00 p.m Cover: $5.00. Yippee! Thanks guys!
  14. Just thought I'd see if anyone knew about anything going on, music-wise or otherwise. I grew up in Portland, so I'm familiar with Brasserie & Jazz de Opus (saw the Ray Brown trio/quartet/quintet a few times growing up). Let me know if you know anything!
  15. You've got mail!
  16. Hey Tom--have a look here for a previous discussion, some of which touched on the sound quality, if I'm not mistaken.
  17. Sold! Free is a very good price!
  18. Or even to a bad home. I'll even pay postage. Story: Bought CD. Left CD (and several others) in Caselogic wallet on airplane. U.S. Air has never called back. Rebought CD. Used jewel case for something else. Act fast or it's going in the trash.
  19. Bill Cosby! If you haven't heard his send up of the dentist visit, you'll nearly drive off the road from laughing.
  20. Not looking! Not looking! Not looking! Just got the disc last night, Jim--sounds great! I'll try to post some thoughts before the weekend...seven replies already--I'm dying to look! Thanks for preparing and sending this out, particularly with junior (then, to-be only!) scrambling for your attention!
