  1. Hell, why not? Enough of us have common interests other than jazz... One thing I haven't seen much of is used DVD stores; probably just a matter of time. So I thought I'd see if any of you has purchased one or more of the following DVDs and decided you didn't really care about owning it after all. Let me know! Bullitt Thomas Crown Affair (1968) The Great Escape I'll pay ya for 'em! Thanks!
  2. Go freakin' figure: Music Recommendations Everybody Wang Chung Tonight Book Recommendations Pediatric Decision Making Camera & Photo Recommendations Olympus Camedia C-720 3MP Digital Camera w/ 8x Optical Zoom Computer & Video Game Recommendations Civilization 3: Conquests Expansion Pack DVD Recommendations Paths of Glory
  3. Ain't that the truth...oh, the many times I saw Sonic Boom in the racks (prior to the recent re-re-release) and thought, "I've gotta pick that up one of these days." Or Dex's Nights at the Keystone. Or...well, 'nuff said...!
  4. The ill wind that nobody blows good!
  5. Oh, vocalese too--think of New Perspective, I'm Trying to get Home and Lift Every Voice without the choir!!!
  6. Really don't like the flute in a solo jazz context (sorry Herbie, R.I.P.); but I do love it in an ensemble, treated the way Gil did (to bring out its texture, often including alto and bass flutes in the mix (see also Belden'd Black Dahlia))!
  7. I dunno, Ed--maybe you should think about Mosaic #1313--The Complete "A New House for Ed Swinnich in 2004" Sessions!
  8. And oh my god, what if they choose a bad photograph for the cover!!!
  9. Can you describe the cover? Is it worse then this one? Viva la ebay!
  10. There's a funny reissue cover of Soul Station--has anyone seen that one?
  11. Good forum, and I got everything to work (needed the MS DB file). This software is extraordinary. As you said, if you spend the time with it, the ability to use your collection as a reference is unlimited (how many versions of bitches brew do I own? How many songs that start with the letter A that lee morgan plays on do I own?) Good stuff! I'll probably activate my shareware.
  12. I'm turning the grooves to dust on, alternately, (original mono, beat to hell on the surface when I got it for $10.00, but the grooves are not too much the worse for wear) and (original mono in amazing shape) I never get tired of those two and they're always at the ready by my TT!
  13. me too! EDIT: I mean, me either... This is going to be a long week...
  14. Thanks, Dmity--I'll check it out!
  15. Couldn't agree more, Dan--great idea. See you on the sixth!!!
  16. Not so tremendous when three installation attempts result in an "access error" when attempting to view the sample DB or create a new one...anyone else have problems, or is it just me?
  17. That's not the only one... (what else am I gonna do on a Saturday morning when my wife is working in the ER and my coffee shop doesn't open until 8:30? ) <<EDITED TO SAY: I know, look at Jim's CDNOW contract to figure out his restitution options...I will this weekend Jim, I promise!>>
  18. Jim, I knew that was your review when I read "Reality, TX"! Your writing in the review itself just solidified it... Nice review!
  19. My thoughts exactly!
  20. Okay, I've got Sahni on hold too...these two seem to be the bibles, maybe I'll get both!
  21. I agree. Who did Pursuit "throw off," and why? I bought it used on vinyl a few years ago...I was surprised to find it was a BN at the time (I almost flipped past it because of the cover, and had to stop and think, "wait...was that Horace?"); I dug it then and it's one of the first records I reach for when I'm looking for something groovy in that 1971 kind of way. I'm looking forward to these relases!
  22. Thanks for your suggestions-- Maren, Invitation to Indian Cooking is on hold for me at Borders right now! I can't wait! Thanks!
