  1. That's a great set...and I'm not even a fan of Ella...but I'm a Duke FIEND! I can only bear to listen to one or two Ella numbers (on this set) but I'm at full attention when it's purely the Duke's band. Great music! Coltrane - European Concerts discs 3 - 4 There's some highly irritating sound/humming on the last 2 tracks of disc 4 (Swedish concert I think) - never will I play these again...marked an 'x' next to the tracks on the booklet.
  2. Ella and Duke - Cote D'Azur Concerts, discs 4 - 5 Followed by all 3 discs of this box set.
  3. Roy Eldridge - Happy Time Shorty Baker & Doc Cheatham Oscar Peterson & Milt Jackson - Two of the Few Bill Evans - Cross Currents
  4. Ordered a few more Legends of Acid Jazz titles - Willis Gator Jackson (3 titles) and Melvin Sparks - from Newbury, via a good chap in the U.S.
  5. Picked up some more discs with the Universal stamp: Oscar Peterson & Harry Edison Sonny Rollins - Love At First Sight Bill Evans - I Will Say Goodbye Cal Tjader - Latin Kick Count Basie - Basie Jam #3 Expecting dozens more good to decent finds for the rest of the year.
  6. Anything by Villi Manilli. Gotta admit lovin mushy love songs by female artists: Could've Been - Tiffany Superwoman - Karyn White I Still Believe - Brenda K Starr Eternal Flame - Bangles
  7. I don't know--I bought a used copy of Sirius recently, I doubt that I will ever listen to it again. What can I say, it holds up to repeated listening for me, I like it. In that case, I should give it another chance, I'm probably wrong. Thanks guys - I'll be getting it soon.
  8. Still holding out on Coleman Hawkin's Sirius - should I get this one?
  9. Bought about 550 in the past 3 years. Still have about 180 titles in the wishlist. Most recent additions being a dozen discs from the Legends of Acid Jazz series and titles by Jimmy McGriff, Hank Crawford and Sonny Rollins (Nucleus, The Way I Feel, Next Album, G Man, Don't Stop The Carnival). I really enjoy these latter-day Rollins recordings.
  10. That's roughly the regime I've been following in the past 10 years or so. After a year of changing my diet, which was very high in refined carbs and packaged "foods", my weight plummeted from a peak of 85kg to 65kg (a little underweight now). I avoid almost all processed foods and most grains/grain-based foods and use fresh vegetables and meats instead. And, I do eat quite a bit of fat that comes with the meat (from grass fed animals if possible) and this doesn't lead to a single bit of weight gain. I also take 3-4 fairly large steamed sweet potatoes per week. The purple ones are the best - delicious texture and not too sweet. All my food is steamed, boiled, grilled (turbo broiler) or in the form of stews, with generous helpings of coconut oil added to certain foods. Fruit intake is minimal - I've read berries are the best. While I don't do rigorous exercise, I find 20-30 minutes per day of brisk walking helps. Also trying out the Chinese art of chi-kung. Good for blood circulation.
  11. Bewitched season 5 (hooked on this series) Benny Hill Complete and Unadulterated set 5, 1982-85

    The World of Pops

Listening to some selections from the Affinity set, Louis and the Blues Singers. Also ordered the following:
  13. No stinging on food, fresh and organic/locally produced if possible. You'd have to pay me to eat processed foods.
  14. You squeeze guavas or is it packaged? Juicer - with (most) seeds and peel removed. Tastes way better than packaged.
