  1. For a bit of fun: http://www.new7wonders.com/index.php?id=315&L=0 I picked the following (based on beautiful designs, engineering feats and recognisability): - Angkor Wat - Great Wall - Hagia Sophia - Machu Picchu - Neuschwanstein Castle - Statue of Liberty - Sydney Opera House No $2 certificates for me though...
  2. Yep - but I've only got one edition from 2006, after N.O was affected by the hurricane. Still waiting for the other quarterly issues. Been reading lots of komic books - mostly reprints of strips from the early/earlier 20th century (Krazy & Ignatz, Dream of the Rarebit Fiend, Popeye etc).
  3. Love Johnny Mercer's songs and, vocals. Three hip hips for Mosaic and here's wishing for many more Duke Ellington releases.
  4. $110 grand a day...how nice http://money.cnn.com/2006/12/15/news/newsm...sion=2006121507
  5. It was a 3CD EMI compilation called "History of Jazz" which covers the blues to the modern jazz of the 1950s - quite a few of the numbers were recreations of the originals. I was fascinated by the music then, but looking at/listening to the collection now, it's much to be desired.
  6. Found in the mail, an unexpected package containing the Complete Fletcher Henderson with Louis Armstrong on Forte label - a new/sealed copy too! My greatest "score" of the past couple of years...
  7. I started on this Legacy compilation and got hooked - pretty decent sound and excellent selection of songs.
  8. Lots of grease, trad. New Orleans jazz, pre 1960s Latin/Afro Cuban music and yeh, tons of Fantasy releases. No single artist monopolised my listening time.
  9. I haven't heard that many Blue Notes but here goes: Herbie Hancock - Maiden Voyage Herbie Hancock - Speak Like A Child Bobby Hutcherson - Dialogue Jimmy Smith - At The Organ A New Sound A New Star Vol.3 Art Blakey - Free for All Andrew Hill - Point of Departure Jackie McLean - Let Freedom Ring Thelonious Monk - Genius Of Modern Music Vol.1 Edmond Hall - Profoundly Blue Sidney Bechet - Jazz Classics Vol.1
  10. Man, these guys sound so much like organissimo members. Comics Forum
  11. Just ordered some non-jazz albums. :excited:
  12. Would it be accurate to conclude that there is nothing new being released on this Collectables disc, in particular the Blue Light album on disc 1? Thanks
  13. Outlived Hendrix, Buddy Holly and Bruce Lee. 2 more weeks to outlive Eva Perón.

  16. Hope this one doesn't sell out before middle of next year.
  17. Dragon fruit? What does it taste like? Right now I'm drinking Pian Del Ciampolo, a wine made in the Chianti region by the Montevertine winery. Yes - Dragon fruit. Can't say it's like any other fruit I've tasted - The seeds (black dots in pic) are edible and crunchy, like seeds of a kiwi fruit. The flesh, white or red, is a little crunchy like a semi-ripe pear and has usually what many would consider a bland taste (sometimes a little sourish), but can be quite sweet in spots. Now enjoying a piping hot cup of black sesame beverage.
  18. Never seen this one! Will keep an eye out for it.... Allegro has it on sale for under $10, along with dozens of other Storyvilles...
