  1. I love them all, but my favorite would have to be Jack Sheldon - Quartet/Quintet followed closely by Cy Touff - Octet and Quintet. Bring back the WCC!!
  2. Just trolling their site and saw this in-store and online. Stock up now!
  3. Ok, I'll fess up too.. I love Jack Jones (I have several autographed pictures that I bought on Ebay), Carpenters, Monkees, Lounge music, "Easy Listening" (Mancini, Percy Faith, Ray Coniff, etc.) Michael Franks, Mel Torme, Hall and Oates and I'm sure many more cringe worthy (to some) bands and musicians. The sick part is I'll put them in the cd changes with Clark, Monk, Mobley and the rest!
  4. Hey, you’ll be in my neighborhood! I live about 10 min. from Hanover! Sad news, there are no really worthwhile record stores in the area. (At least none I haven’t been through thoroughly!) There is a Borders as well as a Best Buy, a Coconuts, and an independent CD store nearby in Lebanon. There is a store in Lebanon that sells vinyl, but since I don’t have a turntable I have no idea how their selection is. What type of food and what price range are you interested in? Let me know and I’ll send some recommendations. Jazz-wize you came the wrong weekend. Last Friday there was a double bill of the Brad Melhdau Trio and Bill Frizell’s Trio. And, as John B said, the weekend of the 31st Dave Holland is in town. Are you visiting friends or just a quick winter vacation? Either way have a good one. (And if you’d like to grab a drink, let me know!) Latest forcast for Saturday: partly cloudy, High 11, low -1.
  5. Gosh, 10 years for consensual sex and only 100 days (but after 30 days you get to leave jail for up to 10 hrs a day for "community service") for speeding, running a stop sign and killing someone! (Bill Janklow former South Dakota governor and congressman oh, he's white!) "Is this a great country or what?"
  6. sent you a message!
  7. Has anyone found a stateside distributor for the 25 disc set? I'm itching to spend some $$
  8. I'll give another to "Flyin' the Koop" I just love the sound he gets out of those drums. I've played this for my freshman (HS) class during their journal writing and they all groove to it. Who says you can't teach these kids anything?!
  9. just got mine, #3594 ......and the music is fine! B)
  10. I'm heading off to see Dave Holland next Saturday here at Dartmouth College. Any reviews from earlier in the tour? Thanks
  11. I finally pulled the trigger on the Blue Mitchell too. (even though one of my New Year's resolutions was to by fewer cds ) I figure I never regret what I do buy, only what I don't. B)
  12. I'm off tonight (1/16) to see this double bill in Hanover, NH. I'll return with a review later. B)
  13. I’d love to see the Nickelodeon cartoon series Kablam! released. Or at least a compilation of the Prometheus and Bob and Action League Now! sketches. MTV’s Clone High would be a great addition too!
  14. Ahh, thanks for clarifying (the mind ain't what is was ) I loved both of those albums, they were some of my earliest purchases in jazz. Was the Uptown ever released as a CD? Thanks
  15. Reading about Bee hive brought me back. I bought one of their albums (which I no longer have ) I believe it was Arnet Cobb and Phil Woods? Anyway, they had an offer for a T-shirt which I wore until it was worn out (today I'd need a bigger size ) I would love to have some of that stuff on CD. Why wouldn't he want to release that stuff on CD? Cost? How about giving them to I-Tunes for sale? I'd buy them that way!
  16. Reading about the "Bebop Spoken Here' set reminded me of another great set: Verve's Limited edition of Blues, Boogie, and Bop. Chock full of great sessions from the 40s, this seven CD set is housed in a plastic reproduction of a 1940s radio and features an 80-page booklet and the following artists: Albert Ammons, Helen Humes, Jay McShann, Jimmy Witherspoon, Walter Brown, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, Professor Longhair, Julia Lee, Myra Taylor and cornetist Rex Stewart, Buddy Rich's bebop big band, Cootie Williams , and previously unreleased alternate takes from Ammons, Humes, McShann, Vinson, Cootie. I mention this great set because there are 3 up on ebay now. (and no, I am not the seller nor do I know any of the sellers) Anyone else have this great set?
  17. Rooster- The Tower records site has clips from the "Angelina" album with Che La Luna! here's the link Angelina CD Here's another album that has a better clip. It's not Louis Prima, but it may give you a better read if it is acutally the right song. Che La Luna and, just to be annoying... a disco version! (also not Prima!) Disco Che La Luna! Hope this helps! Claypone
  18. I think the song is titled "Che La Luna." AMG lists Louis as singing this on two albums and Sam Butera as singing it on two albums. I hope this helps.
  19. I'm one of the yes guys, although I hate guns! The one I have (.22 pistol) I inherited from my father who got it from his father. As it is, it is locked away (we don't have any kids or it would be gone!). I did get some lessons its operation at the local shooting range, but I'm still ambivalent about having it. I'm not sure what I'll eventually do with it.
  20. Gosh, we sure don't want baseball sullied with Pete Rose in the HOF! Get over it! Baseball has been sullied for years with corked bats, juiced players, and greed! I've given up on baseball a long, long time ago.
  21. Aggie, How about this for a push. If you don't buy it, buy it for me! Seriously, I'll send you the $$ plus shipping plus something for your trouble. Paypal or bank check or whatever. Let me know! (I could even chip in my 4cd set of the Best of Nat King Cole ) Claypone
  22. chucky- thanks for the heads up. Now that I have a fast connection B) I'll be checking it out!
  23. Here's the one I'm kicking myself over! ebay Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Buy it now price ... $55.00
  24. I listened to the clips and just bought the CD! (my New Year's resolution was to stop buying so many cds, but since it is only 11:00pm I figure I'm OK ) It sounds great and I can't wait to get it! Happy New Year! Claypone
