If I listen to those people (and others from those eras), I don't feel any need to listen to him.
There have been others who have played in styles before their time whose playing I've enjoyed. Wynton ain't one of them.
I thought it might be interesting for people to list 10 classical recordings that they enjoy - not necessarily their 10 favorites or 10 desert island recordings - just 10 that they enjoy listening to.
I'm not going to start it off, because my classical collection isn't that extensive and my knowledge doesn't run that deep, but I hope that anyone who's interested will participate.
Thank you for posting that. A lot there to digest. At a first quick read, there are things I may not agree with (and things that I do agree with), but that's not the point. It got me thinking more about Monk, and that is the point.

I listened to this somewhat recently after reading Haruki Murakami's Pinball, and the protagonist was listening to the live version of "Jumping with Symphony Sid" and whistling along with Getz's solo.
