I saw a lot of post-game press conferences, and never heard Girardi knock any of his players. In fact, he seemed to go out of his way not to do so, in spite of reporters goading him to do so. Cashman should be out of there. If it weren't for the crazy high priced, long term contracts he offered - Sabathia, A-Rod, Ellsbury, Chapman, maybe Teixeira, come to mind off the top of my head - the Yankees wouldn't be in a "rebuilding" phase.

I know I'm a cynic, but there's nothing there that would induce me to pay $2, let alone 200.

I only had the Mingus, but that was my take also.

Thanks for all of the good wishes. I had a good day. Went to breakfast this morning with a half dozen fellow retirees. Later, I went for a quiet lunch with my wife. Tomorrow, I'll try and do some extra walking to work off the extra calories I took in today. And best birthday wishes to Jeff's father. May he have many more healthy years.

Smiley Lewis: New Orleans Bounce (Sequel) Whenever I listen to Smiley Lewis, I'm always surprised at how little commercial success he had. He made a lot of great records. He had the bad luck to be covered by Gale Storm ("I Hear You Knocking"), Elvis ("One Night"), and by his label make Fats Domino ("Blue Monday"), but he recorded a lot of other fine records that never made it.
