  3. I was listening to a classical radio station yesterday and they played a cut from an album of songs associated with Billie Holiday, played by pianist Lara Downes. Of course, since it was a classical station, they wouldn't play even one cut of Billie herself. Perhaps they thought her music might contaminate the usual stuff they play.
  4. I've probably heard him many times over the years, but never took notice of what he played. I guess that's an appreciation of the art of what he did - accompanying singers (mostly one singer).
  5. The master takes set is the terrible one. Metal, ugly, clumsy. Didn't know about the format of the master takes set. The complete set is very clumsy also.
  6. From what I've read over the past months, he's had health problems but stayed on the road. I guess it's been a way of life for him for so long that he can't escape it.

  8. I have the Complete Verve. I probably could have done better with the master takes set, but I'll go with what I already have.
  9. Someone should go for this - very good music, very good price.

  11. I remember him from my youth. Hadn't seen his name mentioned or thought about him for years. RIP, Mr. LeBaron.
  12. Anything on Doug Sahm in that issue? Yes - quite a bit. Thanks. I'll probably pick it up.

  14. I've one of these too and it's a dead silent pressing with great sound. I prefer it to the stereo digipak CD version I have Impulse mono and a Japanese stereo versions. Haven't listened comparatively to hear which I prefer, but weren't the mono versions fold downs of the stereo recordings by this time?

  17. Cadence/Klompfoot site is back up. https://www.klompfoot.com/ I punched in artist-Lateef, title-Bottom Line, and label-YAL and found it easily in all three cases. The only problem with Cadence is that shipping is expensive especially if you're ordering only one title
  18. Something is screwed up with their website. I tried it a few days ago and the search function worked fine - punch in artist, title, or label and you'd come up with what you wanted. I'm sure that things will be back to normal shortly.

  20. I guess it depends on how much money you have and how much into it you are. Not for me, but I guess it's ok for some.
