Might be seen as avoiding the topic, but I think in terms of music and musicians, not eras. In that sense, I guess I agree with kh1958's post.

I'd like to hear Cecil Taylor's Fly! Fly! Fly! Fly! Fly! recording someday. I'm still listening to and digesting the Cecil I already have in my collection, so there's no hurry.

I'd like to hear the Art Hodes/Truck Parham Emarcy record. I'm sure it will be reissued somewhere, someday, so I'll just be patient. In the meantime, there's more than enough to listen to and enjoy.

This was never reissued, not even on LP, not even in Japan! WTF is "Kean"? Kean was a musical that had a short run on Broadway in 1961.

Watching this and some of the other Nistico w. Herman clips that have been posted recently, what strikes me (beyond the music) is that even though Sal Nistico was in his early 20's when these were taped, he doesn't seem to show much pleasure in what he plays. It looks as if burnout was setting in at that early an age.

Always liked Lois Nettleton. Remembered seeing in Jean Shepherd's obit that they were married. I think that the obit in the NY Times said that they met after she called him when he was doing one of his radio shows. Don't believe that either of them remarried after their divorce.

The Queen's Suite is one of my favorite later Ellington works.

I don't know about this, but I would imagine that if the larger companies are hurting, it affects the smaller companies to some degree - distribution, presence in stores, etc. Perhaps someone like Chuck or Stereo Jack can comment further and offer more expertise than my conjecture.

Thanks for the heads up on the spelling - changed it on my post. I checked this time, and Zoller is correct, but somehow Zollar seemed right and still looks right to me.

NBA: Lakers - Didn't jump on the bandwagon in the 80's. I was a Minneapolis Lakers fan in the 50's when I was a kid. Major League Baseball: Yankees. I was a NY Giant fan and then a SF Giant fan until they traded Willie Mays, my favorite player. Became a Yankee fan in the AL in 1969 after Mickey Mantle retired - couldn't stand Mantle - and overall after the Giants traded Willie. NFL: Giants. Don't follow college basketball or football. College basketball has become a one year thing for most players who have talent, so there's little or no continuity there, except for the coaches (and not much continuity there either, these days). I enjoy watching basketball for the players, not the coaches. Most basketball coaches - and football coaches, for that matter - are obnoxious egomaniacs. As I get older, I find that I have less investment in the teams I root for. I still root and follow my teams, but I don't have the ups and downs that I used have to after wins and losses. At my age, I've finally learned that it is, indeed, "only a game", and a game that I'm not playing, and that there are more important things in my life.

Larry - Thanks for posting the Raney/Zoller video. Wonderful stuff! They were obviously playing for themselves and, for them, the audience wasn't there until they finished playing. Time to listen to my Raney/Zoller duo LP.

Looks like he can't make a basket without dunking. Then again, there are already a few of those guys in the NBA.
