That seems about right. A few bright spots here and there, but also a lot of real silly shit. Still, as pointed out above they was real strong in the start.

I use cedar planks from time to time.

Those Jack Daniels chips sound interesting. I need to get another smoker, I've been without for over two years now.

If you can find it, I highly recommend instead of using a charcoal like Kingsford, look for EL Diablo Mesquite Charcoal. The stuff is from Mexico. I find it at a store here called Sprouts. It smokes and pops like a son of a bitch, but the results are well worth it.

It's that time again! Of course in AZ it's too hot to grill when the sun is out. Gas or Charcoal? Charcoal and wood are best for flavor, but it's tough to beat the ease of a gas grill. I've got one of each, and will be upgrading when I move later this summer. The classic... plus, an older version similar to this one.
