  1. The original vinyls will sound pretty damned good. BUT the new cds have quite a bit of extra material added AND portions of songs restored from edits. . . . You will miss worthwhile music going the vinyl only route.
  2. I have to accept your apology. I can't help it. I like pasta!

    Verve LPRs

Agreed. Great deleted Betty Carter titles, two wonderful Carmen McRaes, the DeFrancos are great, and so much more!

    1. I've only used iTunes on a Mac, but you can download iTunes for PC and supposedly it works just as well. 2. Yes! 3. The cds I've burned from iTunes sound remarkably like cds. In the case of most of those that I downloaded and burned, like the Japanese Verve cds they were sourced from.
  5. That's good advice from Larry. I'd guess towards it not tilting the scales for you Jim.
  6. Only if George Bush says God told him to say it!
  7. I'm a big fan of Shadow Wilson. AND Frankie Dunlop! Two different dancers to the Monk pied piper.
  8. This is a first. . . I wish I owned a Styx album. . . this one, with a perfect booklet I could get 17 bucks for!
  9. The 1932 stereo Ellington material.
  10. MIke. . . I think you'd dig the Quebec. His playing is amazing! I think you'll like the organists too. The "sounds" of the organs may be a bit dated in places, but the playing from those hands is something to hear.
  11. Isn't it About that Time! ? YES! Welcome back!
  12. Sorry Clint. . . I'll do my best to alert you again if I hear of another opportunity!
  13. No I haven't heard it. . .but I will . . . I've a few others to buy first!
  14. Yes, it looks great!
  15. HEADS UP GUYS! Looks as if there were some cancellations, and they're accepting some more preorders! http://stores.musictoday.com/store/dept.as...5Fid=601&sfid=2
  16. Why wait? How about two singing Happy Birthday!
  17. A special draft for you today my friend!
  18. I guess I'm the oddball. Alternate takes fascinate me, I like them sequentially.
  19. It's hard to hear her exactly, but I hear "Happy Birthday Brad"!
  20. That's interesting Larry. I tried and tried to like the Rattle version. . . a large part of my problem may be the recording. . .but it never connected with me at all! Sold it when I got the Sony fifties version which seemed da bomb to me.
  21. OH I think you are dead on. . . I think it did stem from those things.
  22. Bertrand, I don't think any of those will be "endangered" within your proposed time frame.
  23. More seditious comments from Duke. . . . Hard to tell if he REALLY felt that way, or if it behooved him to say so. And he's probably right, from his viewpoint as a composer and a chronicler of "my people." And P and B may have been far less a success if it were more as Duke would have had it. I personally feel that the opera is a masterwork, I like it in its original form very much. But then again, I have a TOTALLY different background and viewpoint from Duke! And. . . my dad instilled a reverence for Gershwin in me by osmosis that I didn't even really realize I had for a long time.
