  1. THE Man!
  2. Yes, in both of them it is the tone and the mood. . . the themes don't vary much. . . but man the atmosphere!
  3. These are legitimate releases licensed by Mighty Quinn from EMI. Sort of like Water Records does.
  4. Cornell Woolrich fan too.
  5. Goodis fan here.
  6. Well Willie knows what it is. But few others do.
  7. I don't know why people are saying that because I don't believe it is true. And it's closed to the public! Anyway, that program at U T is full of good people as well as wonderful material for jazz fans (Russell, Bird, Tegaraden collections et al) and history buffs in general (with a deliberate bias towards modern American history, which is quite cool!) Good move C T-- I think you'll be happy with Austin in general, though from a JAZZ perspective it's pitiful.
  8. That's a cool A. A. Fair novel too. They are all worth a read.
  9. This one. I got it from yourmusic.com for $4.99 before that price went away. It's got an "ease" and depth to the sound that none of the digital versions I have heard has, the SACD layer at least. I haven't listened to the cd layer of this. (My most recent direct comparison would be to the excellent XRCD 24 bit version).
  10. In my opinion, yes. DCC Gold cds of these are quite an improvement as well. I'm lucky in that I was able to buy some fabulous XRCD lp facimiles of these titles. Then there's the SACDs. I have one of those. Whoa.
  11. Man y'all are missin' out. (I haven't smoked ANYTHING for more than 15 years. I've been smoke free. . .which is good because I'd probably be dead otherwise_. Here's a site to check out for sure: http://www.vintagepbks.com
  12. Okay, I"m stopping. I can see all of them. Not sure why you can't. It's not like they're dynamic images or anything.
  13. That's what Rooster's and yours says for me. Can't see them.
  14. I can see EVERY one of them!
  15. Okay, you asked for it. . .
  16. For Austin, the obvious weekly is the only real source worth a hoot. . . . http://www.austinchronicle.com/ There's also http://www.Austin360.com You're not going to find much. . . .
  17. Let's find a way to this place. . ..
  18. This is the one I had/maybe still have:
  19. Fork, it wasn't just Vonnegut that was marketed that way. . .nearly all science fiction and fantasy was!
  20. That's right. . . los bastardos!
  21. It's a long late night drive back from Dallas after a Quartet Out gig! The Ellington wing, and the rest of the museum, has very very restricted access and hours due to paranoid spousal residential say so. . . . But there's a Starbucks, a Chilis and a Chipoltle less than a block away!
  22. search for "Spanish Verve Collection pressing"
  23. Pops Fats Willie the Lion Jackson T Nat T-Bone Grateful Dead lots of solo piano from Tatum, Jarrett, Beethoven, Hines, Satie, my friend Mel Winters, various people playing the D'Imperio Wellington, etc. . . . Others too, but these are proven.
  24. I've downloaded the third of the download series. An early Keith Godchaux show, his fifth. NICE! I have #30 and want to get #35 and #36 in the near future. I'm trying to limit my Picks to the pre-1977 shows and to post 1970, my main interest in the band, and that will serve me til I corrall all those Picks. I'm less interested in dates after 1976, have zilch interest in the band after the Godchaux's really.
