  1. Playing a Jazzmaster!
  2. Flurin, I doubt there is different remastering on the Lateef. I wouldn't shy away from it, I just listened to it again for the third time in 36 hours and it's so good. . . .
  3. As I mentioned earlier, Salvation Army from personal experience and observation. And if you were living here in Austin, I'd say the Capitol Food Bank. I've been supporting them about 15 years or more monthly. A great outfit.
  4. Cool, you definitely have something great to look forward to then!
  5. I've sought out the stuff with Lloyd. . . I like it. . . but I have to have both. Apples and oranges. I don't find the PJ "tame". . . it's quite intricate and complex in comparison but I find it exciting to listen to as well. Seems that Hamilton is just not considered "salesworthy" as very few of the Mosaic contents have appeared under their own cover, and not much of the Impulse or Warner etc. either (domestically).
  6. Yes, the pdf file is on disc 8 and I've glanced over it. On my iBook G4, when I load the disc in there are two files that show up on the desk top, the audio and the pdf, separate.
  7. Wild! I guess there's two versions out there! Okay, you weren't talking crazy Flurin! I apologize!
  8. And she sort of sells the not bad lyrics. . . . Good call Harold. I dig this one. I'll have to pull it out soon.
  9. I like this one a lot, always did since its cd release. . . . I too think Billie's Bounce is a real plus to have. But then I literally like all the work by this trio.
  10. Well, I ordered two cheap Dylan discs off half.com of eighties albums I've never even heard. And the RRK Copenhagen disc seems to be going away from yourmusic.com soon, so I ordered that and also Domino; both were in my queue. I have the Complete box set, but since the I Talk with the Spirits VME I have sounds so good, I went for these.
  11. Okay, time to talk about this set. I got it last night and have listened to two discs. First off, right away I was a bit disappointed in the sound. I SUSPECT it was just a little too heavily scrubbed with Cedar. But maybe not. . . the piano sounds magnificent. This was DSD mastered and that shows. But there is a "grating" quality within the sound of Jelly's voice that could have been avoided I THINK if there were just a little less digital cleansing going on. I could be wrong. I listen nearfield in a pretty revealing setup and that may be aggravating it; I haven't listened on any other systems yet. But now that I have that out of the way I have to say: if you THINK you would like this set, you'll LOVE it for the music, the history and the personality.

    Verve LPRs

I think Flurin is talking crazy! There are no jewelbox LPRs!
  13. Many more big fat happy ones!

Too bad you don't dig the Vault. I've no complaints other than the Real thing. Sure it would be nice to have more art etc. But I also have fun researching the material and making my own artwork. I do that a lot, research and make artwork, I find it fun. And the way I look at it: a cd in hand is better than not having the music.
  15. Wow. I think the sound quality is so good on the Bird/Diz and it is somehow just seeming more significant to me (early date for bebop, CHARLIE AND DIZ AND MAX AND SID, etc.) that I had no choice but to choose the second option. Plus, though this really isn't supposed to matter in the poll I guess, I feel this little diligent label Uptown showed them ALL how it should be done. I love the Carnegie Hall, don't mistake me. MONK! Monk as good as it gets! *edited out a spelling error
  16. Ravi plays nice on it, but Tootie's on fire!
