  1. I've got this on order and should have it pretty soon. I've the lp, and it's a very interesting session. Teefsky is one of my favorites on the tenor. . . you're right he has that tone, and I love the way he slurs and swings. A master!
  2. Such great music in this set. I listened to some of the Atlantic stuff today. Man oh man. . . it's so good.
  3. Especially if it's DTS.
  4. I've finally bought all the individual releases, I don't have the set. Some great work here. I particularly like the Irving Berlin and Johnny Mercer 'books lately, not sure why because years ago they didn't appeal to me as much! And the Ellington set always knocks my socks off, especially the full Orchestra sides! Great remastering on this one!
  5. Didn't work for me. . . way too "jiggly!"
  6. I had similar problems when I first started using Safari and OS10 in my iBook, but after futzing with cookies and bookmarks for a while I managed to avoid reoccurance. . . .
  7. I find brass to really work best, especially the Mapleshade "Triple Points" but we're talking bigger dollars here. What I recommend in the price range you are likely to enjoy are the feet from http://herbiesaudiolab.home.att.net/footers.htm The "Tender Feet" really do work and aren't expensive as hell.
  8. Welcome Jeff! I'm glad you are enjoying this set. Such great music!
  9. I just have a vinyl copy I've had a long time. (And it "shows.") GREAT session!
  10. Didn't he pass away in the early 1980s? ← Finally saw that he died in 1983. Darn. Wish he were around.
  11. I honestly don't know!
  12. Sadki Hakim is still about isn't he?
  13. I'm sure the interview material is great. . . . But I'm saving my 25 dollars for now as I have the music!
  14. In my opinion. . .these are even. . . stronger. . . than the Burning Spirits material!
  15. I haven't sprung for this as I have the two XYZ cds. . .and I really enjoy them. . . but my experience with the Frank Wright "interview" bits led me to believe I could save 25 bucks and not buy this new Simmons. . . . I really DO enjoy this music though. Time to dig them out and spin! (Or rather. . . I wish there WERE time to revisit all I want to this weekend!)
  16. Miles is already Main Mojo Maker in the Dark Fusion Hall of Fame. That blows all the other accolades and honors away!
  17. Yes, I've preordered the Dylan and the Legion of Mary discs. . . !
  18. Wow. www.jerrygarcia.com has lots of new info. New DVD of the Garcia Band at Shoreline (I'm not collecting music DVDs but looks nice!) Upcoming this week is the first of the Legion of Mary releases (with exclusive third disc) AND coming next month is a two cd set (with an exclusive third disc) of "Garcia Plays Dylan" which looks nice! http://www.jerrygarciastore.com/dylancollectedart/

    Greetings

Thanks for joining us! Welcome, from one Lady Lover to another!
  20. That IS a fine horn!
  21. Yeah the General stuff is really good. I think Trane Monk may be best served with the JSPs or the single RCA disc as a "tryout". . . . We KNOW he likes horns!
  22. Amen. Not unusual for Austin the last few years, just brutal!
  23. By LOC Ron was referring to the Lomax recordings. Yes, there's a great great great cd on Retrieval of the early piano solos . . . wow. Really important stuff as you note.
