  1. I think they've had releases from other artists. But they like to appropriate Columbia/Sony stuff. Their "It's About that Time" is the same as Sony's "Juan-les-Pins 1969" (and the Sony was out way first).
  2. I dug out a ten cd "tree" that I have that has the Half Note, Penthouse and so much more and listened to some of the Half Note material. My copy of the new Impulse STILL has not arrived. That really is a nice version of Afro Blue from the Half Note. . . nice Tyner.
  3. Thanks Kevin and MBL. . . . As for the news. . .
  4. You know, oddly enough the last few times I've tried to listen to Sonny Clark sessions I just didn't connect to them and took them off. Whereas I've been really blown away for like the fiftieth time by Bud Powell recording, and I recntly put on about six Wynton Kelly sideman appearances because Wynton was on there. . . . I'll get back iin to Sonny but I don't feel the SPARK right now. This happens to me sometimes.
  5. Hmmmm. . . Chuck sure doesn't have the politics of a millionaire.
  6. I haven't the time right now to dig out the Mosaic set booklet, but yes, I believe these were all included in the Mosiac set, and an internet search reveals that to be the case. Also portions have been on other cds, including the recent Proper box. Excellent stuff. Would be interesting to know if new transfers were done from the original discs for this release. Not sure that is the case.
  7. Yes.
  8. Organic air-chilled chicken breast that I marinated in Herdez tomatillo sauce last night and baked this morning; with mashed Yukon Gold potatoes and steamed asparagus. Come on five o'clock!
  9. If I'm remembering the tracks correctly (from other versions) this is a really good Afro Blue!
  10. The Jamal Trios (either with gibtox or skins). I think they're up to that company.
  11. Don't be skeptical! It's very cool!
  12. Just watched it with the sound off. I wish she wouldn't dye her hair.
  13. Wow, some Carmen McRae! That version of the Great American Songbook is the way to go; the American cds drop a lot of great patter and intros etc. I've never heard the other McRae, may look for this one.
  14. I met David Wild here in Austin at the Elephant Room this year. Wow. Nice man and very knowledgeable! Good pianist and bandleader too!
  15. Thanks guys. They would have been better by David Wild. . .but oh well!
  16. Any good liner notes? By pianist David Wild perhaps?
  17. I can't wait for the mailman to drop this off!
  18. And hey, I knew Monk was obsessive-compulsive, but I didn't know about being white and a detective and that other stuff!
  19. Well, I knew he was an obsessive compulsive! This reminds me of the email correspondance I had briefly with the late Phil Evans regarding Dick Sudhalter's "research" for the Bix bio they both shared. He was so furious that Sudhalter had assured him that he had verified facts that turned out to be no more than anecdotal hearsay. . . . I think he was so upset that he didn't live long enough!
  20. Not sure, I've only seen a handful of episodes, he was not on those!
  21. Oh man. . . we could start a PANIC!
  22. Joley Fisher is now on. . .Desperate Housewives!
