    Verve LPRs

I don't believe we're missing anything. Mine doesn't either and I think I remember this lp when I had seen it as just having the front and back as on the LPR front and back. . . . It's a very nice session. I'd never heard Johnson playing bass clarinet before.
  2. I would like to see a new reissue and would buy it; I feel that sonics could and would be improved; the newest Columbia releases sound much better than the house sound circa 1994. . . . I don't have any knowlegde of what may be unrleased in the Monk section of the Columbia vaults. Certainly there may be some more concert recordings in the can. .. that seems very likely considering the contents of "Mysterioso". . . .
  3. Yes. After ESP-Disk's silence about the upcoming set, I canceled my pre-order. Took them long enough to update their website!
  4. Thanks Brownie; I couldn't remember which outfit backed her.
  5. Bill, congrats!
  6. Did she do any singing with the Orch at the Plaza event?
  7. The original vinyls will sound pretty damned good. BUT the new cds have quite a bit of extra material added AND portions of songs restored from edits. . . . You will miss worthwhile music going the vinyl only route.
  8. I have to accept your apology. I can't help it. I like pasta!

    Verve LPRs

Agreed. Great deleted Betty Carter titles, two wonderful Carmen McRaes, the DeFrancos are great, and so much more!

    1. I've only used iTunes on a Mac, but you can download iTunes for PC and supposedly it works just as well. 2. Yes! 3. The cds I've burned from iTunes sound remarkably like cds. In the case of most of those that I downloaded and burned, like the Japanese Verve cds they were sourced from.
  11. That's good advice from Larry. I'd guess towards it not tilting the scales for you Jim.
  12. Only if George Bush says God told him to say it!
  13. I'm a big fan of Shadow Wilson. AND Frankie Dunlop! Two different dancers to the Monk pied piper.
  14. This is a first. . . I wish I owned a Styx album. . . this one, with a perfect booklet I could get 17 bucks for!
  15. The 1932 stereo Ellington material.
  16. MIke. . . I think you'd dig the Quebec. His playing is amazing! I think you'll like the organists too. The "sounds" of the organs may be a bit dated in places, but the playing from those hands is something to hear.
  17. Isn't it About that Time! ? YES! Welcome back!
  18. Sorry Clint. . . I'll do my best to alert you again if I hear of another opportunity!
  19. No I haven't heard it. . .but I will . . . I've a few others to buy first!
  20. Yes, it looks great!
  21. HEADS UP GUYS! Looks as if there were some cancellations, and they're accepting some more preorders! http://stores.musictoday.com/store/dept.as...5Fid=601&sfid=2
  22. Why wait? How about two singing Happy Birthday!
  23. A special draft for you today my friend!
  24. I guess I'm the oddball. Alternate takes fascinate me, I like them sequentially.
