  1. What, you've never seen it? I have to confess. . . I hate talk shows generally. But hers is watchable!
  2. Tony, good news! Be just the tiniest bit concientious, okay?
  3. Oh yes, though none I think were commercially released at the time.
  4. These are all excellent cds. .. great sound and performances!
  5. Yes, interesting choice! Thanks for the headsup.
  6. Yes, the Bennie Green is great. Though I must say I prefer the sound of the Japanese cds of these sessions which I have. BUT one session appears here in stereo (for the first time?) that is mono on the other cd I have.
  7. John, thanks for repying. That's my impression as well.
  8. Yes, the Strozier was out on a single cd in the early nineties. I haven't seen a copy in a long time, but there aren't many used jazz cds of that type floating around these parts.
  9. I was born on the same day and year as. . . Billy Bob Thornton!
  10. I feel your pain.
  11. Louis Armstrong. Born 1901. Bill Coleman. Born 1904. Herb Ellis. Born 1921. Sonny Simmons. Born 1933.
  12. Agreed. I miss that dude too. Hope all is still well. Need to try an email.
  13. Africa Brass is following the Dead around in a VW Microbus. Nah, last I heard he was okay, taking time off from the board.
  14. I like Sweatman's recordings a LOT as well. Jazz Oracle fairly recenlty reissued a wonderful sounding two cd set with extensive booklet: http://www.jazzoracle.com/catalogue/BDW_8046.asp
  15. I haven't seen a post for a while. Was just thinking about that and him. Here's hopin' all is well. Maybe he's on tour playing sax with the Stones?
  16. I have this on the way from cduniverse, though I have the material in the format you do Jim. . .and I think another format! But I want to buy this for similar reasons. . . and will enjoy it I know. It will probably sound better, which is a plus. And it's authorized. I don't think this is the greatest Coltrane since sliced bread, but it sure is a spirited bunch of performances by this quartet!
  17. Well, I guess that's good Wolf. . . Never, thanks for sharing those impressions.
  18. Waistlines on women's jeans are getting higher again.
  19. I've got quite a bit of them on two "Jazz Archive" cds. Sound okay. . . will sound better on the Storyville!
  20. Storyville is going to put out two cds of the Ellington stuff from later on. . . some of which I think is in the Bear Family set. . . I'm going for the Storyvilles!
  21. Alison, thanks for joining us!
  22. Will be interesting I guess. Are they going to try to get behind that limestone door? Not going to be easy! I've been reading a lot of ancient history this last year or so. . . . It's always fascinated me. That pyramid is unique, and these shafts are not found in other pyramids. It's just amazing to consider the construction of this huge monument (perhaps) 4500 years ago.
  23. Johnny Almond Music Machine is likely: Johnny Almond (sax), Jimmy Crawford(g), Jon Mark(g), Roger Sutton(b), Alan White(ds) 1. Patent Pending: Ensingle 2. Before Dawn 3. VooDoo 4. Forest 5. Solar Level 6. To R.K. 7. Reversed For Two Horns 8. Pequeno 8. Nova 9. Tales Of Junior
  24. I've never owned one or lived in a house that had one. Not sure I want one!
