  1. Christian Scott “Live at Newport” Concord cd Hard to believe it has been fifteen years since this was released. One of these days I should watch the DVD that is included with this cd!
  2. Miles Davis “1958 Miles” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 (2023)
  3. Ha! Luckily no real need for a propane tank. A generator would be nice. Maybe if a ship ever comes in--we have no intentions of ever moving from our sylvan wonderland.
  4. Eric Kloss “One, Two, Free” Muse/32Jazz cd
  5. Having a generator is a good thing. We have vowed to get one if we have a repeat of a few weeks without power but since those two instances we haven't had a repeat (we live in a forested area and after trimming trees that caused those power outages the outages have halted. . . for now). The bad thing about power outages is that when there are really heavy wind storms or really heavy snow storms that cause the outage the power company takes care of the populated areas FIRST and our neighborhood is very sparsely housed and is taken care of. . . last. But overall the advantages of our neighborhood outweigh that limitation.
  6. Thelonious Monk Septet “Monk’s Music” Riverside/Analogue Productions LP
  7. Andrew Hill “Passing Ships” Blue Note Tone Poet Series LP 700×700 61 KB
  8. So glad you have power back! I know what that was like--a few winters ago lost power for 5 days. . . and then a month later for 7 days. . . no heat, no water. . . a bad time.
  9. Pianist-vocalist HAZEL SCOTT at Bop City, New York City, April 1949.
  10. Jerry Vivino “Walkin’ With The Wazmo” Zoho cd
  11. Gregory Groover Jr. "Negro Spiritual Songbook Vol. 2--The Message"
  12. The artist/composer that I am closest to has told me he deliberately does not listen to certain work and persons because he feels his admiration and wonder for them would unduly influence his own work--and at this time he does not wish to be influenced as he had been in the past but to find his own music on his own.
  13. These cds have sold.
  14. Gregory Groover, Jr. “Lovabye”
  15. Rudy Van Gelder Remasters cd
  16. Village Vanguard Live Sessions, Vol. 1 When you don’t listen to Dizzy for a while he can floor you with how great he is. Also. . . Ray Nance and Pepper Adams! Great session.
  17. An excellent release. Mark Masters Ensemble “Wish Me Well–Reflections on The Music of Gary McFarland” SACD
  18. Maria Schneider and the SWR Big Band “Jazz Works and Arrangements” disc 2 Setting the right mood for this dark, warm morning.
  19. Vinicius Cantuária “Cymbals” 600×600 84.6 KB
  20. Tom Harrell “Stories” Contemporary OJC cd
  21. Thanks for sharing that Kevin.
  22. Grateful Dead “30 Trips Around the Sun: The Definitive Live Story 1965–1995” disc 4
  23. Oh my. Verve released this excellent Armstrong cd yesterday and it is a wonderful sounding All Stars live date. Whenever I hear Louis sing “Dear Old Southland” with such tender and smooth delivery . . . (ironic as that song is) I feel better. And then “Kiss to Build a Dream On” . . . always sealing the deal. This one was worth the wait. Louis Armstrong and the All Stars “Louis in London” Verve cd “THE GREAT LOUIS ARMSTRONG” indeed.
  24. Dave McMurray “Grateful Deadication” Blue Note cd
  25. Another Blue Note “LTE” release. Donald Byrd “Chant” Blue Note Japan TOCJ-50275 cd. I’ve long admired the mastering in this series from Japan. Great lineup for this disc!
