Jefferson Airplane “Volunteers” RCA/Culture Factory cd
"HANDS AGAINST THE WALL!"
A blast from the past for me. … I used to really get into the 'Plane. People rag on the Culture Factory releases perhaps with good reason, but I have all their Airplane, Hot Tuna, and Quicksilver releases and I confess that at the right volume level these cds bring me back to the sound of my late night stereo sessions of the 'seventies and early 'eighties.
Lots of Kenny singing. . . perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea, but his playing here is worth the listening indeed.

Up early again. . . and it’s not as cool as I’d like it to be.
Haven’t spun any of the Herbie Nichols Project releases in a long spell. Overdue!
This one may be my favorite.
Herbie Nichols Project “Strange City”
Doug Watkins "Watkins At Large” Transition/TOCJ “RVG Special Edition” 24 Bit remastered lp facsimile paper sleeve edition
What a group, and this sounds great.

Enjoying another cool morning–got to sleep in a bit more as well, a good thing.
Starting off with Marcos Ariel “Alone with Jobim,” a great solo piano disc.
Gary Peacock Trio “Eastward” Sony HiFiCD
Gary Peacock (bass) Masaaki Kikuchi (piano) Hiroshi Murakami (drums)
Man, he was a master player and a deep musical mind. And this is a very interesting recording. In the Keith Jarrett Trio “exploratory mode” tradition.

“Introducing Millie Vernon” Storyville/Muzak Japan cd
I’d never heard of Vernon, but with this band and as it’s one of the superb reissues from Muzak Japan. . . I tried it out.
