In my opinion all the Cannball Riverside/Landmarks are great. This one. . .well it's a different feel than Jazz Workshop Revisited, but great playing from all concerned.

This morning I listened to Beethoven's Third (Bernstein, Vienna Philharmonic, DG), and "The Gellers" downloaded from Verve Vault, and downloaded three lps from http://www.sabadabada.com, Elis' "Como & Porque," and Monk's "Brilliant Corners." Shortly, it will be Marvin's "What's Goin' On". . . .

I agree with Chris, this is a mixed bag, and when it's good. . . it's great! I just listen to bits and pieces any more. This has been on US cd TWICE before this new one. The second time (in the Avenue Jazz series of Bethlehems) this had a few extra pieces I think.

Brownie, I'm glad I didn't steer you wrong! I could no longer do a comparison, as I gave the JVC to my father in Ohio, but. . . I was pretty sure I would have kept the BEST sounding version.

I'd love to read all those. Those pieces that I have read from this magazine are wonderful fun! But I've bought myself way too many expensive presents lately!

These were premiumly priced here in the USA when first released as well; I don't remember specifically what I paid for mine, but it was probably over fifty dollars plus tax.

Jazzhound, you're never going to convince ME. I use tapes of material I recorded in my garage apartment in the eighties of myself and several different groups of musicians playing to evaluate my system. I know the players, the room, the instrument, I was there while it was recorded. These are played back most realistically and accurately on the tube equipment I have, not the solid state equipment I have and have had. So talk on, I hear ya but don't believe.

Maybe it's because they had those two sexy beasts on board. . . Pigpen and Donna Jean. -_-
