Not cold this morning, but quite cool, especially with the heavy dew. A REAL relief up here in the listening room that has been stuffy too long.
Starting off with a new arrival:
Bob Dylan “The1974 Live Recordings” Columbia 27 cd box set, disc 1
It's a good one! I had this on cassette and transferred to cdr for a long time, part of trading years ago with Danny D'Imperio. Sounds better on this Fresh Sounds release.
Fiona the dachshund has decided that this is the first COLD morning. Feels welcome to me!
Starting off with
Tina Brooks "Minor Move" Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD.
I wish they had used the original Japanese cover. But this sure sounds better than the last release!
Pete Jolly “Little Bird” Ava Records/Muzak Records Japan cd
Some tracks trio, with Chuck Berghofer (bass), Larry Bunker (drums); some tracks with Howard Roberts (guitar), Kenny Hume (percussion) added
Pepper Adams “The Adams Effect” Uptown cd
Baritone Saxophone – Pepper Adams
Bass – Ron Carter
Drums – Billy Hart
Piano – Tommy Flanagan
Tenor Saxophone – Frank Foster
A great listen on this cool morning.
The rain stopped! Fiona is happy. She is so low to the ground. . . that wet grass is a tickling wet disadvantage.
Man the system sounds GREAT!
Horace Silver “Further Explorations by the Horace Silver Quintet” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD
Horace with Teddy Kotick, Louis Hayes, Art Farmer and Cliff Jordan.
Squeezing some listening in before going to a neighborhood clambake. (I’m not a fan of clams but Lucy wants to go).
First
Duke Ellington “Indigos” Columbia/Impex Records gold cd
900×900 72.8 KB
Followed by
Count Basie “Warm Breeze” Pablo (Japan) cd (this early Japanese cd sounds best with phase inverted on my DAC)
600×597 104 KB
