Another quartet recording, from the batch of UHQCD released today.
Jackie McLean "Let Freedom Ring" Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD
with Walter Davis Jr, Herbie Lewis, Billy Higgins
“Chet Baker Quartet” Barclay Records/Universal Japan SHM-SACD
This is a beautiful mono recording and the trumpet sound is gloriously present.
Great music!
John Coltrane with Paul Chambers, Miles Davis, and Red Garland (in the background). The Miles Davis Quintet in action at Peacock Alley in St. Louis, Missouri, probably in July 1956.

Sam Noto has a few excellent releases on Xanadu, he was a very decent player.
I think "True Blue" and "Silver Blue" are very satisfying listens--all players are excellent and they are good bebop jam records.
Now Playing:
Grateful Dead “Friend of the Devils: April 1978” 2024 box set, first show
Excellent sound!
My dachshund listening partner is sleepy this morning. After a day of rain there's a still, cool feel to this morning and sitting in front of the stereo is a great way to start the day.
Now playing
Disc 1, Xanadu 2 cd set.
Al Cohn/Dexter Gordon "True Blue & Silver Blue"
Rain! Very welcome by all the outside world, but Fiona the dachshund is not very happy about it. . . .
Don Menza/Pete Magadini “Live At Claudio’s” Sackville cd
Neil Young “Tuscaloosa” Reprise cd
This is sortof an alternate “Time Fades Away”. . . recorded on the same tour. This tour was the only one that I ever attended of Young’s.
The Rich Corpolongo Quartet “Smile”
Rich on multiple reeds with Larry Luchowski on piano, Eric Hochberg on bass, and Michael Raynor on drums
All originals. Reminds me of Atlantic and early Impulse Trane.
A muggy morning! The system is all warmed up and sounding great.
Jason Roebke Octet “High/Red/Center” Delmark cd
with Greg Ward, Jason Adasiewicz, Jason Roebke, Jason Stein, Jeb Bishop, Josh Berman, Keefe Jackson, Mike Reed
