  1. Miki Yamanaka “Songs without Lyrics” Another great one from Miki that came with a personalized inscription on the cd and a postcard filled out with a personal message. Followed by Tom Harrell “Trip” High Note cd Mark Turner is the perfect companion for Tom Harrell on this quartet release. Sounds so good as well.
  2. I gave up on coffee makers as within my marriages I have been the only coffee drinker and I went back to the way my Dad's mom used to make her coffee as she was a widow for 35 years. . . a drip cone. I find a mug made this way tastes so much better. Definitely recommend a try!
  3. I'm an Oznow duster from way back when as well.
  4. Sun Ra “Excelsior Mill” Modern Harmonique cd Listening to this I kept wondering what my pipe organ building great great great great great grandfather would think. I think he would be enthralled. 1280×818 164 KB
  5. Goes nicely with the rain that blew in. Jerry Garcia Band “Electric at the Eel” disc 2
  6. I don't think the style of music mattered much to my cat Marjorie Bouvier when she was growing up with me--it was volume that she had to get used to. I did a lot of early morning listening with her. As time went on higher volumes didn't upset her. She just wanted to be with me and would be snoozing on my lap.
  7. Miki Yamanaka “Human Dust Suite” I bought this directly from Miki and it was nicely signed personally to me by Miki. I like her work.
  8. Kenny Barron “Beyond This Place” Exciting new release from Kenny Barron featuring Steve Nelson and the wonderful alto of Immanuel Wilkins.
  9. I don't. I did for a spell in the 'eighties, when I first started collecting jazz more seriously--I found they helped me to see trends in my listening and highlight gaps in my knowledge and exploration. But haven't since.
  10. Tom Harrell "The Art of Rhythm" RCA cd
  11. Getting through the early morning chill with some funky McDuff. Jack McDuff “Moon Rappin’” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD
  12. This turns out to be a natural to follow the “Brasil” cd. Another great sounding disc. Mario Adnet “Jobim Jazz” Adventure Music cd
  13. 1200×600 116 KB Record 2 My OG copy of Miles Davis “Bitches Brew,” bought in '72 or so. Perhaps mirroring the respect I have had for this album all my adult life, though it has been played MANY times it still sounds great and plays very well without skip or scratch.
  14. ’m glad I picked this one up back in the day. I haven’t heard it in a long time and I like it. “Keith & Donna” Round Records LP The Keith and Donna are the Godchaux, then Grateful Dead members. Jerry Garcia is on guitar all over this album. Keith and Jerry are a great combo.
  15. This one again, before it goes back in the shelves. Such a nice album. Jerry Garcia “Cats Under the Stars” Arista LP
  16. Sonny Rollins “Freedom Weaver: The 1959 European Recordings” disc 2 1200×960 168 KB
  17. The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson Volume 2, Blue Note Japan 24 Bit by RVG lp facsimile cd.
  18. I see the repeating riffs that way as well.
  19. Dizzy Reece “Star Bright” Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD Dizzy Reece – trumpet Hank Mobley – tenor saxophone Wynton Kelly – piano Paul Chambers – bass Art Taylor – drums
  20. I'm not expecting it to be among Pops' greatest works, but I pre-ordered it.
  21. Sure, I'm aware. I'd still like to have an officially released version--in part because I only have a mono button on my phono preamp.
  22. No. I actually wish it were. Now playing Grant Green “Green is Beautiful” 85th Anniversary Blue Note Japan UHQCD 593×599 93 KB
  23. This is one of the best sounding of the Kevin Gray 85th cds yet. Hank Mobley “A Caddy for Daddy” 85th Anniversary Blue Note Japan UHQCD
  24. I'm NOT actually only talking about SACD discs. My SACD holding is less than 1 percent of my collection, and I predominantly listen to Redbook and LPs. My main playback system for digital though does utilize DSD format as the final stage, rather than PCM. I don't feel I'm confused, sorry. Perhaps I am not explaining things as well as I could, I have been building audio systems for nearly fifty years and have accumulated some knowledge and experience but I'm not an engineer nor a professional reviewer. I do understand that cds are "dying or dead," and that various non-physical formats are filling the void. It just doesn't matter to me especially as the sound is different, and in my opinion and to my tastes in my systems not in a better way. And I have more cds than I need and can still find what I want on cd (including in my own collection :)). If others listen to non-physical media, that's great. Please PM me going forward if needed.
  25. See my edited post above. I think I have made my position clear. If anyone wants further from me they can emai me. I've no more to contribute to this thread about CDRs.
