The New Orleans and the Chicago series that Chris produced are excellent and well worth seeking out. The New Orleans Jazz Sessions Mosaic set is overall an excellent set. Different than those on Riverside, it's hard to explain it really, it seems to me to be honest and serious music that fans for New Orleans style jazz would surely love.

Tony, the remastering is decent enough. . . I think having all this material under one roof is a blessing. . .I think you'll enjoy it.

Conn, I get the opposite from Mercy, Mercy, Mercy. I can skip the title tune, but I can replay the album over and over and just revel in the sheer energy and the flow of ideas from Cannon.

I'm just very happy that Tyrone Washington strove to play a lot more like Tyrone Washington than Joe Henderson. Which may have been Chuck's point!

Brad, cool avatar! I found that image on the web about six months ago and used on a cdr cover (from videotaped performances.) Really nice (odd, but in a way fitting) painting!

The sound is very good, or rather the remastering is very good, and the sound is varied by sources, most sounding very good indeed. A wonderful horn of jazz plenty!

There are a few Freddie Hubbard lps I'd like to hear. . . without Freddie.

It's worth the bite, unless you're blessed by being in a great vinyl hunting area. . . even so I'm not sure all the alternates were available on vinyl (maybe; I've had this on cdr of two lps, the Twardzik and one called "Piano Galore" . . . I'm not sure these had all the Twardzik items on this cd.)

That reverb etc. was Teo's contribution to the original album of the "It Club" release. UGH. France just used his tapes, not the original undoctored tapes that Columbia used for it's cd release.

I should have qualified my statement to say that I haven't heard the Philology cds, only a lot of the material on other (earlier released) recordings.

The sound quality on a lot of this stuff is pretty bad. . . .

I for one don't have the box, just a number of single releases (including three or four Japanese) and having all the masters in one place makes sense to me.
