  1. The Peaceful side of Billy Strayhorn" Capitol cd Lovely music.
  2. Interesting. I like this better than many of the albums he released about this time. Now playing
  3. Charles Mingus “Me, Myself an Eye” Atlantic cd 640×640 71.5 KB From this box set:
  4. Eddie Condon Town Hall Concerts, Volume 4, Jazzology Records LP 2 Eddie and his “co-workers” working hard. Great stuff. Especially happy to hear Ernie Caceres.
  5. “The Complete Verve Recordings Of The Buddy De Franco Quartet / Quintet With Sonny Clark” Mosaic Records LP box set, record 1. Rudy Van Gelder mastered this set and it sounds very good. A year ago I tried to sell this set as I have the cd version as well and have always listened to that, no one seemed interested. I’m glad I’ve kept it.
  6. This was a fun release. The past entries in this series were good as well. Here’s hoping perhaps there will be more. Donald Byrd “Live at Montreux” Blue Note cd
  7. I played this one (arrived in the mail today) twice–it was such an energetic and bold and clear session and recording. I wanted to hear details again. Dannie Richmond Quintet “Dionysius” Red Records cd 2023 Then on to one pulled from the shelves, Kurt Rosenwinkle, “The Enemies of Energy” Verve cd. I like the music. . . his guitar tone. . . not as much. 800×600 70.1 KB
  8. No, it is not an ESP record. Info here: https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/pharoah-sanders-pharoah/
  9. Pharoah Sanders “Pharoah” 2 cd box set. I waited a long time for this to be released and shipped to me. . . and when I finally got it the first disc would not load and play in any of my machines. I finally got a replacement. Worth waiting for.
  10. Jovino Santos Neto Quarteto “Cabaclo” cd This is good medicine for a gray too windy and rainy day.
  11. 1m Unheard Art Pepper, Vol. 10, Toronto. Disc 3
  12. Just finished episode 1. This series makes me very emotional. I re-watched Foundation Season 1 and I'm 4 episodes into Season 2. I love this show.
  13. A beautiful cd! Renee Rosnes “Beloved of the Sun” Smoke Sessions cd
  14. Snow on the trees outside my second floor window behind the system. Beautiful and serene in that cold quiet. This disc has won me over with its clear sound and the expressive and interactive playing. Her pianism reminds me of that of an Austin pianist/trumpeter that i got to know well, Mel Winters and his touch and ideas. He is the most mathematical pianist I’ve ever known, and so immediately conversant with any chord mixture available. Hers is a bit more emotionally infused, but of a similar decisive blending. And then there’s Mark Turner, not on all tracks here, but always “just right.” Miki Yamanaka “Stairway to the Stars” Followed by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers “Buhaina’s Delight” Blue Note reissue LP Far more energy . . . how do the grooves hold it all!
  15. Count Basie Orchestra “High Voltage” MPS cd
  16. What I keep wondering if how did Juliette Lewis get in the picture? Yes, looks like the small town grocery store of my teens, though no woman there would dare walk out of the house in curlers.
  17. Woke up very thirsty. Spied this in the refrigerator. Sure was refreshing.
  18. Starting the day off with some great vibes from Cal Tjader. Cal Tjader “Catch The Groove (Live At The Penthouse 1963-1967)” Jazz Detective 2 cd set, disc 2 Followed by some great performances by Kenny Burrell at Catalina’s. Kenny Burrell “Special Requests (and other Favorites)” High Note cd
  19. Re-watched Foundation Season 1 and started Season 2.
  20. Mali Obomsawin - Sweet Tooth (2022)
  21. Wow. This sounds amazing. Santana "Welcome" Stereo/Quad SACD Sony Japan 2023, stereo layer. 800×800 44.4 KB Followed by Immanuel Wilkins “The 7th Hand” Blue Note cd 700×700 73.4 KB
  22. Cold this morning. To be honest the system sounds best when the ambient room temperature is a bit lower. Started off with disc one of the new Blu-Spec CD2 of Miles Davis “Black Beauty.” Wow. Over the years I’ve become more accustomed to the way this is recorded (especially the first quarter) and appreciative of the raw energy and the early interpretations of some of this material. Fascinating, churning sounds. 612×612 72.7 KB On to something different.Pulled this from the shelves and it is drawing me in as Fiona the dachshund settles down. Great sounding disc of warm bouncy music. Magos Herrera “Distancia”
