  1. “Thelonious Monk/Sonny Rollins” Prestige Rudy Van Gelder Remasters cd Japan So much to discover every time listening to this music. Sonny and Monk seeming to understand the music and its spirit so well together, simultaneously. The sound on these Concord Rudy Van Gelder Remasters I find very good, especially the mono recordings.
  2. Fabiano Do Nascimento “Preludio” What an event each of his cds is. What a masterful player and builder of atmosphere.
  3. Rahsaan Roland Kirk “Blacknuss” Atlantic/WEA Japan 24 bit remastered cd 640×640 124 KB Such an amazing album!
  4. Miles Davis “Miles Ahead” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 2023
  5. Wes Montgomery “The Complete Full House Recordings” Riverside/Concord disc 2 followed by Zhenya Strigalev “Blues for Maggie” Whirlwind Records cd
  6. Miles Davis “Nefertiti” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 2023
  7. It would be a better show were it not on network TV. My wife liked it though, and it beats her usual HGTV stuff to watch with her.
  8. Miles Davis “A Tribute to Jack Johnson” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 2023
  9. The Wolverine
  10. Rahsaan Roland Kirk “The Return of the 5000 lb Man” Warner Bros. Japan cd I think this is the last album recorded by RRK before his stroke. It’s a fascinating album with his brilliant mix of technical supremacy, black music history, and his verve and humor.
  11. Miles Davis “In Person. Friday & Saturday Nights At The Blackhawk. San Francisco” Sony Blu-spec CD2, disc 1
  12. Duke Ellington "The Private Collection Volume 2: Dance Concerts California 1958"
  13. Sean Mason “The Southern Suite”
  14. "Autumn Leaves" from
  15. Miles Davis "Milestones" Sony Blu-Spec CD2 two cd set (stereo disc and mono disc). I'm listening to the stereo, first time in a long time (generally chose mono before, which I had in better editions). Sound is very nice! I love these performances; this is an often overlooked Miles masterpiece. And. . . "The Man in the Green Shirt" as the song title from Weather Report goes.
  16. Santana “Welcome” Sony 2 channel/Quad SACD set in 7" packaging 599×589 50.7 KB Beautiful sound and packaging. Followed by Bob Dylan “More Blood, More Tracks” Columbia 6 cd Bootleg Series set. Disc2 This box set is so powerful! Each disc is a creative journey to embark on.
  17. Miles Davis “Porgy and Bess” Sony Blu-Spec CD2Japan 2023, disc 2 (mono version) This release sounds really really good in mono!
  18. Miles Davis “Water Babies” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 Japan 2023 Music that has been with me since 1976. I keep finding bits to discover and enjoy in these selections. One bonus cut on this disc, indicating it is a reissue of the US cd release mastering. I love this Corky McCoy cover. When I was a kid in Philadelphia one of our neighborhood Dads would open up the fire hydrant every few weeks in the summer and we would frolic in the street until the City would come and turn it off. Sometimes I was the kid in clothes watching the fun unhappily as I was not allowed to participate. . . depended which parent was home.
  19. My system has never sounded better, and I just keep wanting to spin disc after disc! Right now Miles Davis “Directions” Blu-Spec CD2 Sony Japan 2023, disc 1
  20. Yes, it's as compelling audibly as that famous pair of Johnny Griffin's pants was visually.
  21. Yes it may be, so far to me it appears to be a reissue of the Wilder mastering on this release (contains the two bonus tracks as well) linked below, as well as the Quintet box set, doesn't sound like a DSD mastering to me, but I need to do more research and comparisons. https://www.discogs.com/release/7335121-Miles-Davis-Sorcerer A number of the Miles releases from this "We Love Jazz" batch seem to be reissues of Wilder US cds. This big batch contains Miles titles that have never been Blu-Spec CD2 before and many that were never Blu-Spec CD either, and those that were given the Blu-Spec treatment before that I have been able to compare are actually different masterings used than before. Which leads me to believe this may not be the same mastering as the 2013 Blu-Spec CD2 which I don't think I have handy to compare.
  22. Followed by a disc just out of a DHL package from Japan. . . . “Duke Ellington and John Coltrane” Verve Acoustic Sounds SHM-SACD
  23. Miles Davis "Sorcerer" Sony Blu-Spec CD2 Japan 2023
