Been a while since I have heard this session. Art Blakey is dishing it out and keeping them all on course. And having Sonny and Jackie McLean on board. . . wow.
Miles Davis “Miles in Berlin” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 2 cd set, disc 2, the “pseudo-stereo” mastering used when the session was first released in Germany on LP.
It sounds really good! Surprisingly. Will probably listen to this version as often as the mono later released.
And what a concert this was! Pretty certain this was the first official recording of Wayne Shorter with these band members.
In yesterday from Resonance Records. . . a very handsome 3 cd set of Les McCann live material. This disc 1 has great sound, nice swing for another chilly morning up too early.
Les McCann “Never A Dull Moment! Live From Coast To Coast (1966-67)” 3 CD set, disc 1
Miles Davis “Four & More” Sony Blu-Spec CD 2023
Continuing to go through the batches of the new Miles Davis Blu-Spec CD2 discs that arrived from cdjapan.
Love listening to those.
Cal Tjader “Catch the Groove: live at the Penthouse 1963-1967” Elemental Records 2 cd set, disc 1
I found myself thinking during this listening “WOW, Cannonball would fit into this groove very well!”
Miles Davis “At Plugged Nickel” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 2023 2 cd set, disc 1
A slightly fuller sound than the previous edition in two separate cds, which I had in a budget reissue.
