  2. My copy of this and the Bishop are out for delivery.
  3. Even better, I went for it. I just wish my Dad, a minister with the United Church of Christ for 43 years, were still here--he'd be intrigued that these were recorded in a UCC church.
  4. Thanks for the headsup.

  6. To my knowledge they have never been collected in a box set. Of course as soon as you buy all the volumes individually. . .
  7. I confess that these are the albums from Mingus I listen to least. . . . If I'm flush enough I may order this but. . . I confess to surprising myself by being somewhat underwhelmed.
  8. I'm not sure of a "bunch." Maybe 4 if you count the Mercury set and the Mulligan?
  9. Olivia Byington “Anção do Amor Demais–Canta Tom e Vinicius”
  10. Not me. I was never a big fan, I'm less of a fan now.
  11. I really have fallen out of "like" with Oliver Nelson's arrangements in general, and never really have liked the Monk that much. I know what you mean about the Gillespie. . .I was pretty lukewarm to chilled about it for some time but the last few times I've spinned it I have liked it more. And this time through I thought the way Dizzy wove in and out of the arrangements very interesting, and I liked that the arrangements didn't follow usual "Ellingtonian" directions.
  12. “The Complete Dinah Washington on Mercury, Vol. 5 (1956-1958)” disc 1
  13. Dizzy Gillespie “A Portrait of Duke Ellington” Verve cd Interestingly the arrangements by Clare Fischer went uncredited on the original LP. An intriguing treatment of Ellington pieces.
  14. Joe Bushkin “1940-1946” Chronogical Classics cd
  15. Keith Jarrett/ Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “The Cure” ECM cd
  16. Keith Jarrett/Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “Changeless” ECM cd
  17. Bob Dylan “Fragments” disc 5
  18. Okay, I may have been looking at a different 2022 LP release. Cool. I'm quite happy with this 10 track stereo cd I have (includes "Billie's Bounce")--gave away two earlier cd versions.
  19. This cd is the best I've heard this release; I don't buy modern vinyl as a general rule so haven't heard that reissue. My cd copy only lacks the "Jazz in the City" single edit, which I can live without, and I don't hear reverb on this mastering. Great music! This is really my favorite period of Mingus.
  20. Been too long since I spun this one. One of the best Mingus from one of his strongest periods of music-making. “A Modern Jazz Symposium of Music and Poetry with Charlie Mingus” Bethlehem/Solid Records Japan cd.
  21. Stanley Turrentine “Another Story” Blue Note Japan SHM-CD 600×524 115 KB Oh boy this is sounding great. Bass – Buster Williams Drums – Mickey Roker Flugelhorn – Thad Jones Piano – Cedar Walton Tenor Saxophone – Stanley Turrentine
