I'm a big Lockjaw fan, he was a true original and exploring his work is a fascinating endeavor.
Right now
Cassandra Wilson “Blue Skies” Winter&Winter cd
It’s been too long since I spun a Wilson disc. Correcting that right now by pulling this from the shelves and loading the transport.
Original JMT Records cover:

cd from this box set:
Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis - tenor saxophone
Shirley Scott - organ
Jerome Richardson - baritone saxophone, flute, tenor saxophone
George Duvivier - bass
Arthur Edgehill - drums
I'll toss in Immanuel Wilkins, and altoist who I think has a unique signature sound and whose playing and writing are worth checking out. I first discovered him via his work with Joel Ross and then his own leader dates.
And on piano, Lafayette Gilchrist. He has amazing hands and a clear personal vision for his music.
Detailed information is on the website, seek it out. Yes, airchecks personally recorded to disc by Russell, found in a closet by his widow, masterfully restored by Doug Pomeroy.
Yes, it seems that for about 7 or 8 years the Sirius offer is present on a new car radio. I can't imagine using it. My listening to the radio is limited to NPR mostly in the car and an independent classical station there and at home. I like it in limited doses. . . but my stereo system with my own musical choices rules my day. My night. . . tv or reading with the wife and our furry daughter.
Jean-Michel Proust “Until it’s Time for You to Go”
Even if his two volumes “For Barney” weren’t enough of a clue Proust definitely was influenced and seems to adore Barney Wilen. That’s okay with me–I adore him too.
This is a nice French-flavored quintet session.
I pulled a few Lambert, Hendricks & Ross and Annie Ross discs from the shelves as I had not heard them in a while.
First up this Columbia 2 cd set that reissues their three Columbia LPs. Disc 1. . . starts off so well with the Ike Isaacs Trio and Harry “Sweets” Edison.

Another master vocalist
Joao Gilberto “Joao” Verve cd
“O Mito.” What can you say. . . silk and gentle breezes and nice orchestration by Clare Fischer. So soothing.
Very much a set of questionable (often distorted) recording quality tapes but so much music and fun.
Bob Dylan “The Basement Tapes Complete, Bootleg Series Vol. 11” disc 1
Bobby Gordon Quartet Featuring Adele Girard Marsala “Don’t Let it End” Arbors Jazz cd
Recreating the unique sound of the Joe Marsala units that featured his harpist, his wife, Adele Marsala. I’m a Bobby Gordon fan and this is another of his excellent releases on Arbors.
