  1. For me it's "Round About Midnight" ("Round Midnight") on Blue Note BLP-1510. When I hold the cover in my hands the opening of this track is what I hear. It just has a certain "mojo" for me.
  2. I had a weird dream last night in which I was telling my (late) first wife that I love stereo equipment but it’s because I love music. That’s really true. Right now, first of the day Thelonious Monk “Misterioso” Riverside/OJC cd
  3. I'm in exactly the same boat. I think it's because we used PayPal. They have our money already, we drop down the list.
  4. In the case of these Mosaic purchases it is the "authorization" that expires, not the card. When you order you authorize the purchase, but there apparently is a time frame and if one has pre-ordered in advance it's possible that if there is a long time before the set is ready and shipped the authorization would expire and a new charge/authorization is needed. https://wallethub.com/answers/cc/how-long-does-a-credit-card-authorization-last-2140697276/ I have avoided this by using PayPal.
  5. Bob Weir “Ace” 50th Anniversary 2 cd set, disc 2 This second disc is a live version of the album recorded at Radio City Music Hall on April 2 and 3, 2022. The album features Weir and his band, Wolf Bros, with special guests Tyler Childers and Brittney Spencer.
  6. Jean-Michel Proust “To Barney Wilen Vol. 2” I’d recommend this to any fan of Barney Wilen. Great sound as well.
  7. "Only the mediocre are always at their best." Jean Giraudoux
  8. Among other common players.
  9. Me either. I don't expect one for a while because I paid with Paypal. Seems to be the pattern.
  10. RIP Croz. I most liked If Only I Could Remember my Name especially for "Cowboy Movie" and the alternate, and his work with Dead members here and there (and as David and the Dorks). Plus his song "Wooden Ships" is a great one, capsulizing a certain pre-Eagles California sound that I really enjoyed. (Eagles ruined a lot of the California rock sound for me).
  11. Wes Montgomery/Milt Jackson “Bags Meets Wes” Riverside/DCC gold cd 640×560 66.5 KB Such a fun and warm session.
  12. Charles Mingus “Tijuana Moods” Classic Records gold cd 960×960 170 KB My favorite sounding version of this awesome album. This one and “East Coasting” battle in my mind as the favorite Mingus album.
  13. Half of this one last night and the second half this morning. My listening companion Fiona the miniature dachshund does NOT like this one; the everywhere, all at once drumming from the two drummers and the freaky deaky guitar bits just don’t let her relax. But I like it. Joe Lovano/UsFive “Cross Culture” Blue Note cd 503×503 63.6 KB Nicole Herzog Septet featuring Adrian Mears “Time will Tell” Fiona likes this one a lot more.
  14. Right now Count Basie “The Golden Years” disc 3, studio big band sides. I bought this set many years ago and since then have about 75% of the source material of this compilation in complete original releases. My esteem for late Basie grows all the time. There was nothing else quite like this band when he was at the piano chair. A whole “philosophy” of swing on the bandstand. This is really a well compiled and mastered collection.
  15. Ben Webster “See You at the Fair” Impulse/GRP cd 600×600 119 KB Expanded from the original album, and that’s a good thing. Webster was something else.
  16. Heinz Sauer & Bob Degen “Ellingtonia Revisited” A very interesting piano and tenor sax duet recording of Ellington compositions.
  17. Keith Jarrett “Standards, Vol. 2” ECM Japan SHM-SACD
  18. 600×520 97.2 KB Miles Davis, “In Person, Saturday Night At The Blackhawk San Francisco, Vol. 2” Sony SICP 3964 Uses 2001 DSD remastering.
  19. Miles Davis, "In Person, Friday Night At The Blackhawk San Francisco, Vol. 1" Sony SICP 3963 Uses 2001 DSD remastering.
  20. Just in from discogs in the mail a Helen Merrill I never expected to find at a decent price: Helen Merrill “Sing A Swing With Digital” Mitsubishi cd, 1983 The track here fusing "All Blues" with "St. Louis Blues" is really cool! Alto Saxophone – Marshall Royal Arranged By – Eiji Kitamura, Kousei Uchida or Nat Pierce Bass – Hideo Kawahara or Monty Budwig Clarinet – Eiji Kitamura Drums – Jake Hanna or Tim Horner Guitar – Cal Collins Piano – Kousei Uchida Trombone – George Masso Trumpet – Jack Sheldon Vocals – Helen Merrill INTERESTING NOTE: Mitsubishi Stereo Digital Recording Made In Japan. All the songs recorded in this CD have done by the system of digital recording. 32ch-PCM recorder X-800 by Mitsubishi Corp., which has the most channels as fixed-head PCM recorder, and digital recorder X-80 with 2 channel fixed-head by the same company are built in the digital recorder used here.
  21. The one by Mr. Witherspoon almost looks like Dinah.
