  3. Putney Dandridge "1935-1936" Chronogical Classics cd More fun music from this former accompanist of "Mr. Bojangles" who was heavily influenced by Fats Waller as a singer. The broad Bechet-esque vibrato is less pronounced here than on the later recordings.

  8. I doubt that they could record that Quintet as it was signed to Columbia, probably exclusively. Maybe they were just out to hear the group, and Francis probably took his camera around with him. This was not long after "Open Sesame" was recorded.
