  1. Going to be a wet, slightly soggy day. Getting some listening in before I have to get ready to go to a public gathering in Mentor with my wife and a few neighbors. Supposed to be a bit rainy, hope we can avoid a lot of the rain. I wanted to start off with the second disc of this set. . . but it won't load in the transport. Sigh. I'll try again in another transport later. "Bill Evans - Further Ahead: Live in Finland 1964-1969" Elemental Music 2 cd set So on to Joel Ross "The Parable of the Poet," Blue Note cd. I've been wanting to revisit this excellent disc for a while.
  2. “Bill Evans - Further Ahead: Live in Finland 1964-1969” Elemental Music 2 cd set, cd 1
  3. “The Unheard And Seldom Heard Ellington - Vol. 2” Blu-Disc T-1003 LP All test pressing sides but one which was an ARC disc for theaters only (not sold in stores). Sound is surprisingly good. I bought this about 7 years ago and haven’t listened to it much. Mostly small group sides, 1933-1941
  4. I gave this disc its probably fourth SpinClean cleaning and it does sound cleaner. Wish this were reissued on cd! “Helen Sings, Teddy Swings” Helen Merrill with Teddy Wilson Trio, Catalyst Records LP Piano – Teddy Wilson Bass – Kunimitsu Inaba or Larry Ridley Drums – Lenny McB
  5. Now Yesterday I played the stereo disc in this set, now onto the mono original release. I think I prefer the mono by a hair–fantastic music. Miles Davis “Milestones” Sony Blu-Spec CD2, stereo and mono 2 cd set
  6. I don't know. For the most part I don't read liner notes any longer and so don't know if they explain it.
  7. Yes. A recreation of the "Belonging" album.
  8. Miles Davis “Milestones” Sony Blu-Spec CD2, stereo and mono 2 cd set, stereo cd
  9. Branford Marsalis “Belonging” Blue Note cd Not sure this Jarrett album needed to be “re-done” but this is a pleasant enough cd. 300×300 21.8 KB
  10. I ordered those three from Resonance Records themselves, hopefully I'll get them soon.
  11. Starting off with a great 2 cd set from 2023 that sort of got lost in the shelves. Brian Blade “Lifecycles, Vols. 1-2: Now! and Forever More Honoring Bobby Hutcherson” Brian Blade - drums and background vocals Rogerio Boccato - percussion Jon Cowherd - piano, wurlitzer and background vocals Monte Croft - vibraphone, marimba and lead vocals John Hart - guitar Myron Walden - flute, tenor and alto saxophone and bass clarinet Doug Weiss - bass This is a wonderful tribute to “Now!” and other Bobby Hutcherson musics. And great engineering as well.
  12. Joshua Redman “Passage of Time” Warner Bros. cd Joshua Redman (saxophones), Aaron Goldberg (piano), Reuben Rogers (bass), Gregory Hutchinson (drums)
  13. David Hazeltine Joe Locke Quartet “Mutual Admiration Society 2”
  14. “Don Goldie’s Jazz Express” Jazzology LP Goldie was an amazing trumpeter! So sad he was not with us longer.
  15. Replaying "1940" LP 2. . . it's so good.
  16. Continuing on with Ellington vinyl. Now LP 2 “Duke Ellington 1940” Smithsonian Collection/RCA 2 LP set 300×287 4.9 KB

  18. Another cold morning. One day it will be the warmer part of spring! Starting off with some Brazilian jazz to warm things up and burst a little cloud of melancholy. Mario Adnet “Saudade Maravilhoso” A beautiful recording.
  19. Wayne Escoffery “The Only Son of One” Sunnyside cd
  20. Ready now for something a bit harder-hitting. Per Goldschmidt, Tom Harrell, Niels Lan Doky, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Alvin Queen “Frankly: A Tribute To Sinatra” Milestone cd
  21. Thank you. It was odd this morning to wake up and not be woken up. It will take some adjusting for a while.
  22. Thanks. She was a rascal Kevin; we "rescued" her about nine years ago of an unknown age, probably five or six, and at first would do things like steal a steak off Lucinda's plate, disappear under the house and refuse to come out until she felt like it, crawl into pipes and hollow trees --got stuck in one of those-- after moles or mice. . . she finally mellowed with age and became a couch potato welded to my hip or in my arms. It will be a big adjustment but we were prepared for this. Six months or more of blindness and deafness is a big cross for her to bear and adjust to, and a big effort for us (mostly me) to manage. I'm glad she's resting in peace. . . and as a benefit I will be sleeping better as well.
