On to some old time jazz/pop: Frank Trumbauer “1929-1931” Chronogical Classics cd I really like the Trumbauer sound and feel. What is interesting here is that there’s “Popeye” voice chuckle I think done by Hoagy Carmichael on several of these tracks. . . years before there was a Popeye animated cartoon wth voice. . . curious. Good stuff!

A cold, quiet morning, after a very nice dinner with my two brothers and their families. It was so good to get together at last--took a lot of planning but paid off. Starting the day with "Melissa Aldana & Crash Trio," Concord cd--reminidng me a lot of Joe Henderson trio recordings.

Yes, Cullum was the real deal, as was his Dad I've heard. I saw Cullum several times, twice at The Landing, once with Peanuts Hucko which was one helluva night of jazz. -
Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe “An Evening Of Yes Music Plus” Fragile 2 cd set, disc 2 This time I’m listening to the gold cd set, not the promo set. Sounds the same as far as I can sense, but the gold discs are cool. 600×450 87 KB

Duke Ellington and his Orchestra “Duke 56/62 Vol. 3” CBS France LP. These are mostly vocal items, most from singles. I have Vol. 2 as well, and am on the lookout for a less expensive Vol. 1 than I see available right now.

Thank you sir. Yes, I actually paid a bit more for this all in with shipping and state tax. I am really an "up through '78" guy, and really an up through '72 guy, and there's not enough of my favorite years here and this will languish dusty on the shelves. I listened to it all once, a really nice set. -

This is a very nice album. This working band shines in the studio. Harrell’s uniqueness carries on through his HIgh Note recordings. . . a style that is cohesive and involving. Tom Harrell “The Time of the Son” High Note cd

A nice quiet Christmas . . . survived. Wish I could cancel the weekly brunch with sister- and brother-in-law, just don’t feel like going out but will. Cold, but no precipitation. The stereo is warming up and sounding so so good. Enjoying this Getz recording with the amazing Alex Blake on bass. Stan Getz “The Fiinal Concert Recording” Eagle cd disc 2
