Yes, I have a lot of Moravian ancestry centered around Bethlehem, Lititz and Nazareth. -
Roy Hargrove and Crisol “Grand-Terre” Verve cd
-
Miles Davis “Miles in the Sky” Columbia/Mobile Fidelity Lab SACD

Congrats! That looks like an excellent table. For about ten years I've had a P3 with the Exact2 cartridge and the Groovetracer Reference sub-platter, counterweight and Delrin platter, and for the last two years the Neo2 motor controller and I use the newest top of the line Rega belt. Love the sound!

My first box set was the Solo Concerts: Bremen/Lausanne and then the Smithsonian jazz one, all LP sets. My first two box sets, LP sets, were the Keith Jarrett "Solo Concerts: Bremen/Lausanne" and the "Smithsonian Collection of Classic jazz." Soon after that I think were other LP sets, the Colunbia/Smithsonian Ellington sets, "1938,"1939," "1940" and "1941."

You are correct.

Joel Ross "Gospel Music" Blue Note cd Just out yesterday. His releases never disappoint me.
-
Grant Green "Feelin' the Spirit" Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary SHM-SACD. I just love this album, have four different issues I've kept, they all sound very good. Herbie Hancock really shines on this session.

Pete B! Such a nice man. I found out a few decades ago he was married in a chapel where an organ built by my great great great great great grandfather, David Tannenberg, was played. I visited that chapel and heard the organ when I was a lad. -
COLD! I’m getting used to it. Now spinnning Bobby Hutcherson “In the Vanguard” Landmark cd. The sound is a bit drab but great playing! Bobby Hutcherson – vibraphone, marimba Kenny Barron - piano Buster Williams – bass Al Foster – drums
-
Jack Teagarden “Think Well of Me” Verve cd The last few times I’ve played this music I’ve played either the stereo or the mono LP, this time it’s the Verve cd. In any case the music is just so good.
-
Ella Fitzgerald “Day Dreams: The Best of the Duke Ellington Songbook” Verve cd The full (and the expanded) set is of course wonderful, but this is a very nice compilation compiling fine tracks.
-
A duo of Jobim recordings. Both from Universal Japan on SHM-CD. First “Jobim” (aka “Matita Perê” in the Brazilian edition) 301×282 51.7 KB 400×400 29.4 KB Followed by “Passarim” I will never tire of listening to these.
-
Me too. I'd like a handful of more volumes from throughout the Columbia period.
-
This is the story of Hurricane Carter. . . I mean Minnesota Martyrs.
-
Eliane Elias “Time and Again” Candid cd An album of originals by Eliane and husband Marc Johnson.
-
“Little Johnny C”, Johnny Coles Blue Note Japan 85th Anniversary UHQCD "etc." is Leo Wright, who was not under contract with Blue Note.

Up early. -3 degrees and saw a party of deer walk through the side lot, always a thrill to see life in the moonlight. Starting off a quiet listening session with Kenny Burrell “Ellington is Forever, Vol. 1” on Fantasy/OJC cd. Yes, Ellington IS forever.
-
I think you'll find "Morning Glory" more involving. .. it is at least pretty well-written.
-
Rahsaan Roland Kirk “The Man Who Cried Fire” Hyena Record cd A killer live performance from Kirk.
-
The Orphan Newsboys “Extra!” Jazzology cd This outfit led by Marty Grosz is always a fun listen. Marty sings in a Fats Waller style better than anyone I’ve ever heard, a skill born from love. And he may not admit it but he plays a better guitar than Eddie Condon. Great stuff. 500×499 61.6 KB Marty Grosz, guitar and vocals Peter Ecklund, cornet and whistling Bobby Gordon, clarinet and singing Greg Cohen, bass Ken Peplowski, alto sax and clarinet Murray Wall, bass This may not be one of the best recordings ever but it’s so well recorded for what it is. And one wonderful aspect of this group is it takes a while before one realizes. . . there’s no drummer.
-
Charles Mingus “East Coasting” Bethlehem/Solid cd 500×502 22.9 KB A favorite Mingus.
-
I like this one. Not released until 1995, these 1957 recordings really draw me “into” the music. A trio with Chet’s trumpet and vocals, guitar and bass.
-
It's really good. Not in my top 5, but really good. “Miles in India” Times Square 2 cd set, disc 2 A very interesting release that I am having a good time re-visiting.
