  1. Grant Green "I Want to Hold Your Hand" Blue Note Japan "24 bit by RVG" cd I confess to digging the title tune, but the rest of the album MORE.
  2. "Duke Ellington's Far East Suite" Sony Japan cd It's odd. I used to avoid this one so that it wouldn't become "too familiar." That was probably good because now I find so much to love in this recording! John Lamb is so bitchin' here with Duke as he always is.
  3. Dave Douglas "Brazen Heart--Live at the Jazz Standard 2015" disc 3 Very interesting music. Encompassing many modern styles with a touch of past styles as well. Good live sound.
  4. Blue Note "The SP Days, 1939 to 1952" disc 6 "Back Room Sessions on Blue Note"--all sessions feature Art Hodes on piano.
  5. Kurt Elling "The Gate"
  6. Kurt Elling "The Gate"
  7. A cdr I made of some rare sessions from the "Blue Note--the SP Days--1939 to 1952" box set from Japan. I think I'm going to have break out the box set and listen to it again soon. These sessions are Sammy Benskin Trio, Jimmy Shirley, Pig Meat Markham, Clyde Berhardt and his Kansas City Buddies, Vic Dickenson Quartet
  8. David Sanchez "The Departure" Listening to the system with a new HDMI cable between my transport and DAC, a Pink Faun.
  9. The one mentioned above, "Cu-Bop," Art "Bu" Blakey and "Sabu" Martinez.
  10. Red Garland Trio with Eddie Lockjaz Davis, "Moodsville Volume 1"
  11. The Japanese cd of Bu and Sabu sounds quite good. But probably not easy to afford these days.
  12. Helen Merrill "Carousel"
  13. Headphones again. Tony Williams "Angel Street" Blue Note cd
  14. Sneaking one in on hedaphones. Miles Davis "Nefertiti" Mobile Fidelity SACD
  15. No, it was one of the original Impulse releases in the most recent batch of reissues, the title escapes me right now. Edit to add: two MQA/UHQCD of John Coltrane (Both Directions At Once and Selflessness) were scheduled, then delayed I think, then canceled.

    Bob Dylan corner

I like it a lot. The "1970" set has some interesting variants in it. I bought Dylan up through the live stuff with the Band and a few boots and then went totally back into jazz only for the longest time. . . rediscovering Bob with the Bootleg Series and have since gotten all the official releases. He fascinates the hell out of me.
  17. Yes, played that this morning!
  18. "Thelonious Monk Plays Duke Ellington" 20 bit K2 cd, Riverside/OJC Never have quite figured out this cover. But great music.
  19. Duke Ellington "And his Mother Called him Bill" RCA/Sony Legacy cd
  20. No Mingus at all. https://store.rhino.com/chicago-at-carnegie-hall-complete.html
  21. Last time I saw that was a Coltrane title or two delayed . . . then canceled. Here's hoping this does not happen.
  22. Yes, I have that one as well. And the Hodes Mosaic set. He was an amazing pianist!
  23. On to one of my favorite Ellington sets, Volume 2 of "Duke Ellington 1947-1952" from CBS France. These years were a cornucopia of Ellington fun and finesse.
  24. Ha! Damn, now we're waiting for July. . . .
  25. I love this period of Blue Note history and value all that I have of it, which is nearly all, in various formats. I was hoping for a revisiting of this material with contemporary analog to digital conversion tech, but have given up hoping that will happen. It's certainly possible to be content with what we have. . . .
