  1. That's America for ya!
  2. "The Complete Capitol Live Recordings of the George Shearing Quintet" disc 4
  3. 1953 Alfa Romeo 1900 Speciale. I want one.
  4. Chick Corea Trio "Trilogy" disc 2 Like this one more each time I play it.
  5. "The Complete Pacific Jazz Recordings of the Chet Baker Quartet with Russ Freeman" disc 1 Charming music.
  6. "The Complete Verve Recordings of the Teddy Wilson Trio" disc 2. Jo Jones! Just such "full" and yet concise drumming. Full of personality.
  7. Milt Jackson "Reverence and Compassion"
  8. Disc 2 of "The Complete Verve Recordings of the Buddy De Franco Quartet/Quintet with Sonny Clark" This set has some of the best playing by Sonny Clark. Just my opinion.
  9. Gabriel Mervine "Say Something" SACD, from PS Audio's Octave Records. Nice sounding disc with pleasant jazz. Probably not the most popular thing to say but Mervine reminds me most of Wynton Marsalis.
  10. My guess is that it is CD and Blu-ray as described in the article.
  11. Amazon has these on their cd and vinyl pages.
  12. Yes, I bought the Art Yard sets when first released. Who know, the P-Vine may have English lners as well.
  13. Pim, I hope your wife gets well soon and that you don't contract a severe case. My wife and I got our first Pfizer shots today, a "stadium" vaccination center that operated like a well-oiled machine, a breeze to get the vaccine. No ill after- or side-effects for either of us.
  14. "The Complete Capitol Live Recordings of George Shearing" disc 3 Gary Burton on vibes!
  15. Milt Jackson, "Burnin' in the Woodshed" Warner Bros cd
  16. I don't have P-Vine versions of those, but you'll enjoy both.
  17. Models come and go so fast these days that it's hard to keep up unless you can buy and try often. My favorite stand alone SACD players have been the Sony XA-5400ES and the Denon DCD-A100, both exceptional players for Redbook and SACD. Next in quality is the Oppo UDP-205, which I have in a second system. But these three were discontinued years ago. I don't have experience with newer players. For SACD in my systems I use a duo of PS Audio DirectStream Memory Player into PS Audio DirectStream DAC, which does give me full DSD playback, and sounds fantastic. But this is a very expensive playback duo, unfortunately. And the Memory Player has been discontinued, and the DAC soon will be. A few years to six or seven years seems to be the normal product run these days. If your budget allows Yamaha, Cambridge Audio and Pioneer have universal players and SACD players that may be good to explore.
  18. On to another mono Mosaic box set I pulled out to listen to, disc 1 of "The Complete Verve Recordings of the Buddy De Franco Quartet/Quintet with Sonny Clark"
  19. Decided to listen to all of this set and am now on disc 2. Lots of vocals on this disc, and that's fine. I'm one of those who dig Chet's singing, and I like his earliest vocals the best. "The Complete Pacific Jazz Recordings of the Chet Baker Quartet with Russ Freeman" Disc 2
  20. This one ALWAYS sends me. In every way--concept, song choice and sequencing, arrangements, performances and the excellent, appropriate engineering. What a brave woman Ms Carter was--with her unique vocal vision and technique and her determination to perservere and lead. Truly a master. Betty Carter "I'm Yours, You're mine" Verve cd
  21. Listening again to the first disc of the Teddy Wilson Trio Verve Recordings on Mosaic before moving on further in this box set as I sort of spaced out in a graceful and stylish manner while listening to his graceful and stylish playing yesterday afternoon.
  22. Now Dizzy Reece "Comin' On" Blue Note Connoisseur cd Two sessions recorded in '60 but released for the first time in '99. Better late than never, good stuff with Stan the Man et al.
  23. RIP Freddie Redd. Thanks for the listening experiences we've had and to come.
  24. "The Complete Verve Wilson Recordings of the Teddy Wilson Trio" Mosaic 5 cd set, disc 1 Elegance and precision, not unlike the beboppin' George Shearing Quintet material in his Mosaic set
